How do I charge using the app?

If you are using the app to start a charge, please ensure you have finished setting up your profile first. This includes adding up to date payment details and your car's details.


Once completed, you're ready to charge!

  1. When you open the Osprey App, you will see a map. Here you can see your current location to find your nearest chargers.

  2. Tap on a charging station pin on the map and the location name and available connectors will appear.

  3. Select the ID number of the charge point you are using – this number is found on a white sticker on the front of the charger beginning with 'OSP'.

  4. Select the connector that you need (CCS, CHAdeMO or Type 2).

  5. Now remove the connector from the charge point and plug into your car.

  6. Tap “Start charging” at the bottom of the screen on your phone.

  7. If you have not added a payment card you will be asked to add a card before the charge can start.

You can also plug your car in first before attempting to start a charge, once you plug in you have 90 seconds to start the charging session from the app until it will timeout. If you timeout, unplug the car, return the cable to the station and restart the process.


When using the Osprey app we take a £25 pre-authorisation fee.

At the end of a charging session, we will only bill you for the energy you used.

If your session didn’t start as expected, you can retry, and we will reuse the existing pre-authorisation. Payment reservations are usually adjusted a few minutes after the end of your charging session. If you charged above the £25 you may see two pending Osprey charges on your account, £25 and the remainder over the pre-authorisation amount.

Some banks take longer to clear the pre-authorisation fee. If you have concerns, please contact your bank directly.


Need a receipt?
If you charged via the Osprey App, you have instant access to receipts.

To access them, go to your profile and tap 'charge history' then 'billing'. You will be able to view and download all your receipts.
