How does the speed limiter work in the Renault 5?

Updated over 2 months ago

Speed Limiter Activation

Press the mode button multiple times to activate the speed limiter. The speed limiter symbol will appear, and the function will be active, waiting for a set speed.

Setting the Maximum Speed

Drive above 30 km/h and press the set button to establish the current speed as the limit. The set speed will be displayed on the dashboard, and the warning light will turn white.

Adjusting the Speed

Press the set/- button to decrease the speed.
Press the set/+ button to increase the speed.

Overriding the Speed Limiter

You can temporarily exceed the set speed by quickly pressing down on the accelerator. The speed on the dashboard will flash red, and the limiter will be reinstated once you release the accelerator.

Unable to Maintain Speed

On a steep descent, the speed limiter may not be able to maintain the set speed. In this case, the speed on the dashboard will flash, and a warning sound will be triggered.

Deactivating the Speed Limiter

Press the set button to deactivate the speed limiter. The stored speed will be cleared, and the warning light will disappear.

Reactivating the Speed Limiter

If a speed has been previously stored, press the set/+ button to restore it.

Note: The speed limiter does not affect the braking system and should not be relied upon in situations where strict speed control is necessary.
