When organizing an event for international or multilingual audiences, Momice allows you to fully set up registration, the event website, and communication in multiple languages. Momice provides standard website and email texts in 7 languages. In addition, you can create and manage all custom content (such as invitations, websites, tickets, and emails) per language.
You can use all 7 available languages in your event. There is no limit on the number of languages.
Please note:
You can set up an event in up to 7 languages.
The language of registration confirmations and e-tickets is determined by the language set for the invitee in Momice.
The language of the event website and registration form is determined by the browser language of the invitee.
If the browser language matches one of the event languages, that language is shown.
If the browser language is not available for the event, the event’s main language is shown.
The language set in Momice does not automatically change when an invitee switches the language on the event website.
If no language is set for an invitee, this person will not receive emails when filtering by language.
How multilingual registration works for the invitee
Personal invitation
Does the invitee have a personal invitation link?
The event website and registration form are shown in the browser language of the invitee (or the main language if the browser language is not available).
The registration confirmation and e-ticket are sent in the language set for the invitee in Momice.
Open registration (without a personal link)
With open registration:
The browser language determines the language of the event website and registration form.
If the browser language is not available, the main language of the event is used.
The selected language is stored in Momice and can only be changed later by the organizer.
Setting languages for your event
Available languages
Momice supports the following languages:
Dutch (nl)
English (en)
German (de)
French (fr)
Spanish (es)
Italian (it)
Portuguese (pt)
You can set one main language (Settings Module, Basic) and activate one or more additional languages.
Removing a language (important)
Do you want to remove an additional language? Click the cross icon next to the relevant language and then click ‘Save’.
The language is removed and all content is immediately deleted.
This content is not restored, even if you add the same language again later.
Changing a language and then switching it back is also treated as removal: the content is permanently lost.
Please note: when removing a language, a clear warning is shown. All content in that language is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
Event name per language
You can set a separate event name per language. The top language in the list is the main language.
Event website and registration form
The registration form can be set up per language in the Website Module.
Per language, you can define:
Which pages are active.
Which content is displayed.
You can easily switch between languages to manage content per language.
Registration questions
Answers to multilingual registration questions are linked across languages.
The order of the answers must therefore be exactly the same in all languages.
Importing invitees with a preferred language
When importing invitees, we recommend using the example Excel template:
You can find this in the Registration Module → Add invitees → Import list.
Use the ‘language’ column.
Enter the correct two-letter language code (en, nl, de, fr, es, it, pt).
You can select invitees for emails using the language filter.
Why this is important
The selected language determines the language of the registration confirmation.
If an invitee has no language set, they will not be selected when filtering emails by language.
Registration confirmations
For each language, a separate registration confirmation is available in the Mail Module.
Per language, you can set up the content of the registration confirmation.
Adding the e-ticket cannot be set up per language.
Would you like invitees to always have easy access to their e-ticket? Add a button to the registration confirmation that links to the 'Personal page'. On this page, the invitee can:
View the submitted registration details.
Edit their registration details.
View the QR code.
Download the e-ticket.
Unsubscribe from the event.
Advanced registration
If you use advanced options such as:
Guest registration
Waiting list
Pay later
A separate registration confirmation is automatically available per language.
Registration overview
In the registration overview, you can:
Filter by language.
See whether invitees have been imported correctly.
Admission tickets and e-tickets
The title and description of admission tickets can be set per language.
Fixed fields on the e-ticket such as event name, organization, start time, and image or logo cannot be set up per language.
Invitations and thank-you emails
In the Mail Module:
Choose 'Select invitees from overview'.
Filter by language to send the correct email per audience.
Please note: surveys can only be created in one language.
Personal registration
If an invitee changes the language on the event website themselves, only the website language changes. The language set in Momice remains unchanged.
The registration confirmation is sent in the language set by the organizer.
Therefore, always check whether the language settings of your invitees are correct when importing.
Testing your multilingual event
During testing, translations may not display correctly due to stored cookies.
To avoid this:
Test in an incognito window.
Clear your cookies.
Tip for international events
Set English as the main language.
If an invitee’s browser language does not match one of the event languages, the main language is shown automatically.
By using English as the main language, invitees will always land on a clear and understandable English event website.
Do you organize multilingual events more often? The Momice team can set standard mail templates per language on your account. Contact us for more information at support@momice.com.
