Importing Lists
You can import contacts into the Registration Module from Excel.
You can create multiple lists for different target groups, such as:
Invitees
Partners
Sponsors
VIPs
Each list has its own title. When you start importing, you will automatically see a sample Excel template. The columns in this template correspond to the questions in your registration form (Website Module → Pages).
Tip for using a formal salutation
Would you like to use a formal salutation (e.g., “Dear Mr./Ms.”)?
Add a column called “Gender” to your Excel file. This allows Momice to automatically generate the correct salutation. Read more about setting up formal salutations here.
Mapping registration questions
During the import process, you need to map the columns from your Excel file to the registration questions in Momice.
Momice will automatically suggest matches.
You review and confirm the correct mapping.
Please note:
Data can only be pre-filled for open questions. It is not possible to import data into:
Closed questions
Workshop questions
Automatic checks during import
While importing, Momice automatically checks for:
Errors in email addresses
Duplicate contacts
Contacts that already exist in the registration overview
You will see an overview of:
Errors
Duplicate contacts
You can choose whether to merge duplicates or continue importing without merging them.
Error in an email address?
For example:
Spelling mistakes
Incorrect extensions
Extra spaces
In that case:
Cancel the import.
Manually correct the error in your Excel file.
Save the file under a new name.
Import again.
Please note: If there are errors in the list, the file cannot be imported. First resolve the errors and then try again.
Issues caused by hidden formatting
If Momice reports errors in empty rows, your file likely contains hidden formatting.
Solution:
Copy all data.
Paste it into a new, empty Excel file.
Save the file under a new name.
Import again.
Maximum number of invitees
By default, you can import up to 5,000 invitees per upload. Do you have more than 5,000 contacts?
Split the list into multiple files.
Contact support at support@momice.com.
Setting invitees to “Registered”
After importing, you can set an entire list to “Registered” at once. Go to the Registration Module and click: “Mark invitees registered”.
Then check the following:
Are the correct people selected?
Which ticket should be assigned?
Do you want to send a registration confirmation (optional)?
Should registered persons be visible on the guest list?
Please note: invitees must have given consent for this.
Optionally: select a workshop option.
Click: “Mark invitees registered”. The selected contacts will now be marked as registered and (if enabled) will receive a registration confirmation.
Please note: This action cannot be undone. Always carefully verify that you have selected the correct list and contacts.
Adding a new list to an existing list
During the import process, you can choose to:
Import as a new list.
Add to an existing list.
If you want to add your new list to an existing list, select the desired list during the import process.
Important when invitations have already been sent
Have you already sent an invitation to an existing list and are you now adding new invitees?
Please note:
In the Mail Module, you cannot filter only the newly added invitees.
Old and new invitees will be mixed together.
In this case, it is more practical to import the new invitees as a separate list. This allows you to easily filter by list name.
Please note: in both the Registration Module and Mail Module, there is no filter to see who has already received an email. You can only filter by status. Read more about filtering and invitee statuses here.
Importing lists with preferred language (multilingual registration)
We recommend using the sample Excel template. In this template, you will find an additional column called “Language”. Enter the two-letter language code per contact:
nl
en
de
fr
es
it
pt
When sending a mailing, you can then filter by language.
