Overview
Mobaro's per-event notifications — the alerts about Assignments, images, Competencies, and Results — are governed in two layers: an Organization default that applies to everyone, and a personal override each User can set for themselves. This article explains the two layers, the notification types available, and which arrive by email versus push.
Super Users (or a Role with Organization: Administrate) manage the Organization-wide defaults. All Users can manage their own personal settings.
Why this matters: These settings decide whether the right alerts actually reach people — and whether they're drowned in noise. A sensible Organization default plus the freedom for individuals to tune their own keeps notifications useful rather than ignored.
Note: These are the per-event notifications tied to a User's own work. They're separate from Notification Rules, which an admin builds to send reports and availability pushes to chosen audiences — see Create and manage Notification Rules.
The two layers
Layer | What it does |
Organization default | Set by a Super User, it's the starting set of notifications every User receives unless they personalize. |
Personal override | Any User can turn on Personalize settings and choose their own. Once they do, Organization-default changes no longer affect them. |
Notification types and channels
Each notification type is available on email, push, or both. Most are tied to Assignments; a few cover images, Competencies, and Results:
Notification | Push | |
Assignment assigned | Yes | Yes |
Assignment resolved | Yes | Yes |
Comment on an Assignment | Yes | Yes |
Assignment deadline overdue | Yes | Yes |
Assignment started | No | Yes |
Image categories updated / commented | No | Yes |
Competency awarded to me | No | Yes |
Result requires validation | No | Yes |
Note: Most Assignment notifications come in scoped variants — for Assignments assigned to me, assigned to my Groups, I'm subscribed to, or I created — so you can, for example, get pushes for your own work but only email for your team's. The settings screen is the source of truth for exactly which toggles your account currently offers.
Set the Organization default
From the Mobaro Backend, go to Notification Rules, click the Notification Settings (bell) button, enable or disable each email/push notification for the whole account, and Save.
Heads up: Changing the Organization default does not affect Users who have already personalized their own settings — they keep their personal choices.
Set your personal notifications
From the Backend
Click your profile icon → Edit Profile → scroll to Notification Settings → enable Personalize settings → choose your push and email notifications → Save.
From the mobile app
Tap your profile icon → Notification Settings → toggle on Personalize settings → choose your notifications.
Best practice: Set a lean, sensible Organization default (the alerts everyone genuinely needs), and let individuals personalize from there. Over-enabling at the Organization level trains people to ignore notifications.
Frequently asked questions
Q: Why didn't my Organization-wide change reach someone?
A: They've personalized their settings, so they're no longer driven by the Organization default. Personal settings always win for that User.
Q: Why is a notification available on push but not email (or vice versa)?
A: Some types are channel-specific — "Assignment started", image events, Competency awarded, and "Result requires validation" are push-only, for example. The table above shows the split.
Q: How do these differ from Notification Rules?
A: These per-event settings are about a User's own work alerts. Notification Rules are admin-built rules that send reports and availability pushes to chosen audiences. See Create and manage Notification Rules.
Q: Can I go back to the Organization default after personalizing?
A: Turn Personalize settings back off and you'll follow the Organization default again.
