Understanding the state of an Assignment

Learn about the lifecycle of an assignment from creation to resolution.

Overview

Assignments in Mobaro can hold a few different states; it's important as both a user and a super user for understand the states and their meanings.

Users must be Super Users or have the following roles to change the state of an assignment:

  • Be directly (user) or indirectly (user group) assigned on an assignment

  • Have the Modify permission for Assignments

    • Must also be able to be part of the assignment's Location unless paired with the View permission for Locations and View permission for Assignments


Explanation of States

Assignments can hold any of the following states:

Created / Open

Assignments that have been opened and are pending action, delegation, or completion

Started

Assignments that have been started

Note: This is only applicable on the Mobaro backend

Finished

Assignments that have been completed

Reopened*

While not a "visible" state, assignments can be reopened and given a justification.

When reopening an assignment, you will be placed as the assignee.


Troubleshooting & FAQ

  1. Why can't I change the state of an assignment?

    1. You may not be directly or indirectly assigned to the assignment or you may be missing permissions in order modify an assignment; see your account owner for assistance.

  2. Can I add, remove, or replace Mobaro's predefined assignment states?

    1. Currently you will not be able to add to, remove from, or replace any of the assignment states. We plan to change this in the future.
