Allow peer assessments in certification processes

Add a second layer of review to your certifications by assigning peer assessors instead of (or in addition to) self-assessments.

Overview

A Certification Process can use Peer Assessment — assigning a specific team, User Group, or individual to review and complete a Certification on behalf of others. It's the right fit for supervisor sign-offs, in-field observations, and multi-step evaluations where someone other than the candidate confirms competence.

Why this matters: Some qualifications can't be self-certified — a trainee shouldn't sign off their own ride-operation check. Peer Assessment puts the award in the hands of a qualified assessor, so the Certification reflects a real evaluation rather than self-report.

How to enable Peer Assessment

Open the Certification Process editor

From Certification Processes, create a new Certification Process, then expand the Assignees & Reviewers section.

Choose the assessment type

Use the dropdown to select Self assessment (default) or Peer assessment. If you choose Peer assessment, you'll set:

  • Assessors — who evaluates and completes the Certification (e.g. the Management Team).

  • Assignees — who is being certified (e.g. the Water Park Team).

Assign assessors and assignees

Search for and assign one or more Users or User Groups to each.

Best practice: For large operations, use User Groups like Supervisors or Ride Leads as assessors to simplify management — membership changes flow through automatically.

Require validation (optional)

Enable Require Validation to add a layer of oversight after the peer assessment is completed.

In the mobile app

Once published, assessors see a new Assess others section in their Certification Center, where they can view and complete Certifications on behalf of others. The User being assessed receives their awarded Competency once the assigned peer completes the assessment.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Can a User complete a Certification for themselves and others?
A: Not in one process — a Certification Process is either self assessment or peer assessment, not both. You can build a tiered approach with two linked processes: for example, a self-assessment knowledge check that, on completion, triggers a peer-assessed supervisor sign-off (or the reverse).

Q: Will the Certification appear in the app for both assessor and assignee?
A: Yes. Assessors see it under Assess others; assignees see it under My Certifications.

Q: Can I track who completed which part?
A: Yes. Certification Results record whether each was completed as a self- or peer-assessment, including the assessor's name.

Q: Can I change the assessment type after publishing?
A: No. The assessment type is fixed once the Certification Process is published.
