Creating a Timesheet Entry Type

Create Timesheet Entry Types to classify logged time — the labour categories Users pick when adding a Timesheet entry, with an optional default.

Written by Logan Bowlby

Overview

Timesheet Entry Types classify logged time by the kind of work it was — Regular, Overtime, Travel, Training, and so on. Users pick a Type when they add a Timesheet entry, and that classification flows through to reporting, so you can break hours down by labour type. This article covers creating and managing them.

Users must be Super Users or have Organization: Administrate to create and manage Timesheet Entry Types.

Why this matters: Without Entry Types, all logged time is one undifferentiated bucket. With a clean set, "how many overtime hours did we run this month?" or "how much time went to travel vs on-site work?" become a filter, not a manual tally — which is exactly what payroll and billing need.

Create a Timesheet Entry Type

Open Time Registration

In the Mobaro Backend, go to Configuration and open the Time Registration tab.

Add the Type

Click Create, give the Entry Type a clear name, and — if it should be pre-selected whenever a User logs time — tick Default. Click OK. Repeat for each Type you need.

Best practice: Keep the list short and distinct, and set the most common one as Default so everyday logging is one tap. A handful of clear Types everyone applies the same way makes labour reporting far cleaner than a long, overlapping list.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Where do Users pick the Entry Type?
A: When they add a Timesheet entry on an Assignment — see Create a Timesheet Entry.

Q: What does Default do?
A: The default Type is pre-selected when a User logs time, so they only change it for the exceptions. You can have one default.

Q: Can I rename or remove a Type later?
A: Yes, from Configuration > Time Registration. Review existing entries that use a Type before removing it.

Q: Do Entry Types affect reporting?
A: Yes — they're a primary way to break Timesheet data down. See Reporting and exporting Timesheets.
