MiniPay Wallet Migration Between iOS and Android

Explains why MiniPay wallets can't transfer between iOS and Android, and walks through the steps to move funds and set up a new linked card when switching platforms.

Current Technical Limitations

  • Different Backup Systems: MiniPay creates separate backups for iOS (iCloud) and Android (Google Drive). Using the same email address across platforms will still create a brand-new wallet rather than restoring the existing one.

  • No Private Key Restore: MiniPay currently does not support restoring wallets via a secret recovery phrase or private key.

  • Single Wallet/Owner Restriction: Gnosis Pay does not support linking a second wallet or new owner to an existing card account.

Migration Flow for Users (Android ↔ iOS)

Because MiniPay wallets cannot be transferred across platforms, changing operating systems requires setting up a completely new card.

  1. Transfer Funds: Create a new MiniPay wallet on the new device and manually send your remaining token balance from the old wallet.

  2. Deactivate Old Card: Close/deactivate your existing Gnosis Pay card account linked to the old wallet.

  3. Re-register: Contact support to create a new card tied to the new wallet setup on the new platform.
