The lights in my house flicker when I turn on the heater. Why is that?

Updated over a month ago

Your panel heater is equipped with PID control for improved temperature regulation, and in rare cases, some light bulbs may flicker when PID control is active. To avoid this, you can enable “Slow PID” in the app.

Here's how:

  • Open the Mill app

  • Select the heater that is connected

  • Scroll down a bit and turn on “Slow PID”

Slow PID ensures that the heater doesn't draw power too quickly from the outlet, which prevents irregular current flow on the same electrical circuit. These irregularities are what can cause lights on the same circuit to momentarily lose a bit of wattage every time the heater draws power for heating.
