View the ticket details and tap Continue.

Tap the drop-down menu to select the start date of the ticket’s validity.

The ticket can be purchased 14 days in advance, but note that the validity of the ticket starts from the date you choose.

Notes and error messages

  • Kela has unfortunately not granted you a school trip subsidy.

If so, check your purchase rights in OmaKela and make the necessary corrections to your details.

    You can re-authenticate in Settings.

  • Verification cannot be started / Order failed

Even if you receive this error message, please check if your ticket was generated after all. It may take a while for the ticket to load. So please wait a moment and check that the ticket can be found on the home page.

  • Valid ticket, you already have a valid ticket, do you want to continue?

Make sure you do not buy a new ticket unnecessarily. Each purchase reduces the number of tickets available for purchase.

If you have already purchased a subsidised school trip ticket, you must use up your existing ticket. You can buy a new ticket product later.

However, please make sure you do not have two ticket products valid at the same time.

NOTE ALSO

A student cannot have two identical tickets at the same time.

When buying a new ticket, please note that the new ticket must be valid from the date of expiry of the old ticket. You can buy a new ticket 14 days before it becomes valid. Each ticket purchased reduces the number of tickets available for purchase.

Buying a new subsidised school trip ticket

When the validity of the ticket or the trips on the ticket have been used up, a new ticket can be purchased using the Subsidised school trip ticket button.

The student’s entitlement is always checked when he or she is buying a subsidised school trip ticket.

The student should choose the next product according to the number of school trips made per month.

If you do not see the correct subsidised school trip ticket in the ticket menu (on the “Buy ticket” page) when buying a new ticket.

This can be due to one of the following:

•You have a valid ticket for the same product AND

•The valid ticket has the same number of kilometres AND

•There are still 5 or more trips left on the valid ticket

The subsidised school trip ticket will reappear and be available for purchase (on the “Buy ticket” page) when there are 4 or fewer trips left.

Check your valid tickets in the Tickets menu.

Purchase authorisation: during this period, you can buy subsidised school trip tickets for the number of purchases available. Note: the latter date indicates the last day on which it is possible to buy subsidised school trip tickets. Even if the number of purchases has not been used up and the date expires, you can no longer buy tickets. Therefore, be sure to check and remember the expiry date of your ticket.

The last day to purchase is 14 days before the end of school.

Purchases remaining: each purchase reduces the number of tickets available for purchase. Here you can check the number of purchases remaining.

Finally:

If you change your phone, remember that purchased tickets are saved under the user ID used for the purchase.

Therefore, open the Trips and Tickets app with the same user ID you used to sign up and buy your tickets.

A ticket can be transferred to another device if, for example, the phone breaks or otherwise needs to be replaced.

Please note, however, that the ticket can only be opened on another device after 24 hours have elapsed since the last bus trip.

Matkahuolto will not reimburse you for any costs due to phone replacement, such as a paid one-time trip.
