Mapon does not take responsibility for device installation or any problems caused by improper setup.

Before you begin

Ensure you have all components and that the installation environment meets these requirements:

  • Temperature: At least 10°C to prevent condensation and ensure proper adhesion.

  • Clean Surface: Work on a clean, dust-free surface.

  • Locate the OBD-II Port and Plan Cable Routing: Confirm that the provided 4-meter cable can reach from the OBD-II port to the dashcam's planned installation location. This is especially important for truck installations.

Heated windshields may cause adhesion issues for dashcams. Please use discretion when installing a dashcam on a vehicle with a heated windshield.

Step 1: Prepare the Windshield

1. Clean the mounting area with the provided wipes, then let the glass dry completely.

2. Check dashcam placement to ensure the driver can reach the Event Detection button.

Hold the dashcam (unplugged) in place to visualize the final position.

3. Use the positioning stencil:

  • Peel off the adhesive backing.

  • Align the stencil with the top of the windshield this will ensure a 3 cm gap to allow for easy cable routing. Horizontal edge of the windshield also ensures dashcam will be level with the vehicle.

If no clear edge is available, use a smartphone level app or another reference method to ensure proper alignment.

Step 2: Mount the Camera

1. Detach the camera mount using the Torx screwdriver.

Small bolts are easily lost. Use a magnetic tool or cloth to catch them, and work in a well-lit area.

2. Peel off the adhesive backing from the mount.

3. Align the mount using the stencil as a guide.

4. Press firmly against the windshield for 30 seconds to ensure adhesion.

Start from the centre and use the plastic pry tool to remove air bubbles.

5. Carefully remove the stencil.

6. Loosen the horizontal adjustment screw with the hex wrench for easier access to mounting screws.

7. Clip in the dashcam and secure it with two Torx screws.

Step 3: Connect the Power Cable

1. Locate the OBD-II port (typically under the steering column or driver’s side dashboard).

2. Prepare the cable: Attach adhesive cable clips before routing.

3. Route the cable:

- Peel off the adhesive backing from the clip before attaching the cable to the windshield, pressing firmly on the clip to secure it

- Repeat this process until the cable is routed along the top edge of the windshield along the path to the OBD-II port.

Keep the cable out of the driver’s line of sight.

- Tuck cables neatly using the plastic pry tool under rubber seals and trim gaps.

Clean surfaces with cleaning wipes and add extra clips if needed.

4. Plug in the OBD-II power connector securely.

5. Secure excess cable with cable ties to prevent loose wiring.

6. Remove lens cover to proceed with Livestream test.

Step 4: Power On & Test

For the positioning test, use a laptop or tablet to access the web platform.

Check Status LEDs:

Ensure the green LED is ON, indicating a data connection.

Verify Camera in the Mapon Platform

2. Navigate to Cameras → Camera Settings and check if the camera appears.

If the Camera is listed in Camera settings:

For the Сamera installation in a vehicle that already has a GPS tracking device:

1. Find the Camera using the IMEI or serial number indicated on the box.
2. Click the ✏️ pencil icon in the Linked Vehicle column.
3. Select the vehicle with the existing tracking device from the dropdown.
4. Click OK to complete the link.

1. Go to Map, locate the vehicle using the camera IMEI or vehicle number, or find it in the Vehicle List.

2. Scroll to Video Cameras and verify livestream by clicking Outward.

3. Adjust the horizontal camera alignment and tighten the hex bolt to finalize the installation.

If the livestream isn’t loading, check it in the Service app by entering the Camera device IMEI from the box, click Check, and ensure GPRS, GPS, and Ignition are marked with green checkboxes.

If the issue persists, contact Mapon Support.

If the Camera is not listed in Camera settings:

Adjust the horizontal camera alignment, tighten the hex bolt to finalize the installation and contact Mapon Support with the Camera device IMEI number and vehicle number (if Camera is installed in a vehicle with an existing tracking device) so we can add it to your account.

Once the Camera is added, you can view the Livestream as described above for any positioning adjustments.

Your Mapon Dashcam is now ready to use!
