What two-factor authentication (2FA) is and how to activate it

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your Lexroom account: on top of your email and password, you'll be asked to confirm access with a second factor. You can activate it whenever you like from your profile settings.

How to activate 2FA

  • Go to Account Settings → Security

  • Choose your preferred method: SMS or authenticator app

  • Follow the steps to confirm your chosen method

Once activation is complete, you'll also receive 10 single-use recovery codes: save them somewhere safe, they let you get back in even if you lose your phone later. You can generate a new set anytime from Settings → Security.

Which methods you can choose

  • SMS: you receive a code by text message every time you log in from an unrecognized device.

  • Authenticator app (e.g. Google Authenticator, Authy): generates a code directly on your phone, even without an internet connection.

You can only activate one of the two at a time, but you can switch anytime from Settings → Security. We recommend always keeping a verified phone number on your account, even if you choose the app as your primary method: it's the simplest way to avoid losing access if you change phones.

What to do if you don't receive the code

You can request a new code directly from the verification screen. If the problem continues after two attempts, contact our support team.

If your organization requires 2FA

If you're part of an organization, the Administrator can require all users to activate 2FA.

Want to turn it off, change your method, or manage your devices? See the article Managing your 2FA settings.
