How to upload a file
You can upload files both in the Ask Lexroom section and in Document Drafting, directly from the main screen:
Click the button with the paperclip "Add file"
Choose "From device" (the other option, "Private library", is a separate Lexroom feature)
In the window that opens you can:
Click to select the files from your computer's folders, or
Drag the files directly into the window
Once the compliance check is complete, the file is validated and you can continue with your query (or with the prompt, if you're in Document Drafting)
Formats and limits
Supported formats | PDF, text files, Word (.docx only) |
Maximum number of files | 20 at a time |
Maximum total size | 100 MB |
Most common errors and how to fix them
"Invalid document format" with a Word file
The file is probably in .doc format (the old Word format) instead of .docx. Files in .doc format don't pass the compliance check.
Solution: open the file in Word and use Save As, choosing the Word Document (.docx) format. All versions of Word allow this. Then re-upload the file to Lexroom.
"Maximum allowed size exceeded"
The file (or the set of files) exceeds 100 MB.
Solution: split the document into several parts and upload the individual sections separately.
Validation error on a PDF with images
If the PDF contains images that are not text (for example, photographs), the platform can't validate it, even if the format is correct.
Solution: make sure the document contains readable text. If the PDF is a scan, use a version with recognised text (OCR) or remove the pages that contain only images.
