How Jodel handles law enforcement and official requests

Your privacy and safety matter. When law enforcement or other recognised authorities contact Jodel in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, we follow a process designed to make sure each request is genuine, lawful, and limited to what is necessary.

This page is a high-level overview. It is not legal advice.

Verified request channels

To protect our community, we provide the following official contact points for authorities. These are published on jodel.com:

  • Authority contact emails, as listed in our Imprint, including:

    • emergency@jodel.com for emergency-only requests from law-enforcement or competent authorities

    • dsa@jodel.com for Digital Services Act and regulatory enquiries

    • safety@jodel.com for questions or concerns about the Child Safety Standards Policy or our child protection measures

  • Written requests addressed to our registered entity, as published in the Imprint:
The Jodel Venture GmbH, Wilhelmstraße 118, 10963 Berlin, Germany

We recommend that authorities use these channels for official requests. We do not treat social media accounts or private profiles as official contact points.

How we verify official requests

Before we act on any authority request, our team checks that:

  • The requester has a clear mandate to contact us

  • The requester is a recognised government body, regulator, or authority

  • There is a lawful basis and clear scope for the request

If a request is unclear, incomplete, or cannot be authenticated, we may ask the requester for clarification or decline it.

How we track and handle verified requests

For accountability and oversight, Jodel keeps restricted internal records of verified authority requests and their outcomes. Access to these records is limited to authorised staff and they are reviewed periodically as part of our governance and quality-assurance practices.

What we may provide (user-safe wording)

When permitted by law and after proper verification, Jodel may provide:

  • Account-related identifiers

  • Limited content metadata

We never provide real-time surveillance, user passwords, or unrestricted access to systems. All requests must be specific, lawful, and proportionate.

Timelines

We aim to acknowledge valid authority requests as quickly as possible and respond in line with applicable law, our privacy obligations, and the scope of the request. Actual response times may vary depending on complexity and documentation required.

Privacy and data-protection

We handle authority requests in line with our Privacy Policy and with applicable data-protection laws in the markets where we operate. In Saudi Arabia this includes the Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL).
