How do I unlink a resource from a segment?

D
Written by Daria Nasedkina

Overview

Unlinking a resource from a segment removes access to it for users in that segment. The resource itself stays in Documents & policies — you're only breaking its connection to the segment, not deleting it.

Note: If you unlink a resource from all its segments, it becomes available to all learners again.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Click the Settings tab in the side menu, or the ⚙ Settings icon in the top-right corner.

  2. Find the Elsewhere section and click Organisational segments.

  3. Choose the segment from the list and click its title.

  4. Scroll down to the Linked Documents & policies card.

  5. Find the resource you want to unlink and click the menu icon on the right of its details.

  6. Select Remove.

  7. Click OK to confirm.

FAQ

Does unlinking delete the resource?

No. Unlinking only removes the connection between the resource and the segment. The resource stays in Documents & policies, and any other links are unaffected.

What happens if I unlink a resource from all its segments?

It becomes available to all learners again, since it's no longer restricted to any segment.

Will learners in the segment still see the resource after I unlink it?

Not through that segment. If the resource is also set as organisation-wide required reading, or linked to a course they're on, they'll still see it that way.

Can I re-link it later?

Yes. You can link the resource to the segment again at any time. See How do I link a resource to a segment?
