How do I create a segment administrator?

Overview

A segment administrator is an administrator whose access is limited to the users in one Organisational segment, rather than everyone on the LMS. You create one the same way as a full administrator, but you also assign them a segment. To learn more about the available admin types, see What administrator profiles exist?

An administrator can manage only one segment, but a single segment can have several administrators managing it.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Go to your Atlas admin page.

  2. Click Users in the left-hand menu.

  3. Use the search bar to find the user, then click the three dots in the Actions column and select View/Edit User Details.

  4. Scroll down to Access rights and select the access rights you want to give the user.

  5. In the segment field, click the arrow to show the list and select the segment this administrator should manage.

  6. Click Save changes.

Note: Administrator access applies immediately, though the user may need to log out and back in for changes to take full effect. Atlas doesn't notify them of their new rights, so let them know directly if needed.

Can a user be an admin of different segments?

No. A user can be an admin of only one segment at a time. If someone needs to manage more than one segment, consider giving them full administrator rights instead.

Can I assign several administrators to one segment?

Yes. There's no limit to how many administrators can be assigned to one segment.

Who can assign segment administrator rights?

Training administrators (both full and segment) and a Training Service Owner can assign, change, or remove administrator rights.

The user I want to make a segment admin isn't in the system — what should I do?
