Travel with MG

MG shouldn’t stop you from travelling but it’s important to make sure you prepare in advance.

Before You Go: Questions to Ponder

  • How stable has your MG been lately?

  • Do you have frequent flare-ups?

  • Have you changed medications recently?

  • Could the weather at your destination affect your MG?

  • Are there MG-aware hospitals at your destination?

  • Any disease outbreaks where you're headed?

Always chat with your doctor before travelling. They can advise on risks. It's also wise to get the latest note from them about your treatments and meds. This can be a lifesaver if you need care while away. And, ask them for contacts of MG specialists at your travel spot.

Travel Tips for MG Patients

  • Plan Smartly: Make sure to rest and don't overdo activities.

  • Educate Others: Carry an MG info booklet. It can help inform healthcare workers.

  • Be Prepared:

    • Carry extra money or credit cards.

    • Wear a medical alert ID or carry an alert card.

    • If you take IVIG, try getting it before your trip.
