Hey Pharmacist has teamed up with PenCycle, a recycling initiative, to help play our part in being more sustainable. PenCycle is completely free of charge. PenCycle return boxes will now be included in your order, or you can request one through our Help Centre by sending us a message.

All you need to do is remove the needle from your empty Novo Nordisk pre-filled pen and dispose of it carefully in your normal way. Drop the empty pen in your return box. When the return box is full, post it from any post box or post office using the FREEPOST Royal Mail address printed on the back, free of charge.

Why PenCycle?

Every year in the UK, 23 million empty, pre-filled Novo Nordisk pens end up incinerated or sent to landfill. Some of the materials used to make medical pens aren't biodegradable, so they could stay in landfills for hundreds of years, and incinerating these materials uses a lot of energy while producing harmful gases.

Novo Nordisk have developed a new, innovative process that lets us recycle out pre-filled pens after use. By finding new ways to reuse them, we can help put an end to the unsustainable use of earth's natural resources.

Every pre-filled Novo Nordisk pen returned through PenCycle will be recycled into useful new products, giving them new purpose. PenCycle has already seen recycled plastic made into new furniture and glass repurposed into lamps.

Hey Pharmacist are getting involved to help support the sustainable use of earth's resources and protect the environment for future generations. We will not receive any money for taking part.
