Why is the lid on my Ready-to-Drink bottle attached?

The attached cap is required by EU legislation from July 2024 — tethered lids reduce plastic litter and improve recycling rates. Huel updated packaging ahead of the deadline.

You may have noticed that the cap on your Huel Ready-to-Drink bottle stays attached after opening. This is intentional — here's why.

EU regulation update

From July 2024, EU legislation requires that plastic caps on beverage bottles of 3 litres or less remain tethered to the bottle after opening. Since Huel RTD is produced in the EU and distributed globally, we updated our packaging ahead of that deadline to comply with the regulation.

Why it matters

Tethered caps help ensure the entire bottle and cap are recycled together, reducing plastic litter and improving recycling rates. It's part of our broader commitment to sustainability across our packaging.

We know it's a change

The attached cap may feel different, especially when drinking on the go. Your feedback is genuinely valued — our team is always working to improve the experience while staying compliant and committed to sustainability.
