Plan the mounting system with K2, ESDEC, Van der Valk, GSE, Renusol and Solar.Pro.Tool

Plan the mounting system in the manufacturer's tool or directly in Eturnity and import the bill of materials as a collective position.

Overview

With the mounting system integrations, you plan the mounting systems of your PV system with the manufacturer's data and import the positions as a collective position into the Bill of materials of your variant and thus into the offer. With K2, GSE, Renusol and Solar.Pro.Tool, you plan in the manufacturer's tool and send the bill of materials back to Eturnity; with the ESDEC Calculator and the ValkPVplanner, you stay in Eturnity, without an account with the manufacturer. The calculation by ESDEC and Van der Valk and the planning in Solar.Pro.Tool do not replace a structural assessment of the building; have the roof checked separately to see whether it can bear the additional load.

Prerequisites for all integrations

  • The integration is enabled for your company. This depends on your licence and, for the ValkPVplanner, also on your company's country.

  • The Photovoltaics technology is activated in the active variant (Variants page, Active technologies column); otherwise the menu items are missing.

  • The variant is planned in the 3D Panel layout, whether in Basic or Pro, and at least one panel field contains panels.

  • All mounting systems of the variant have the matching entry as Manufacturer in your component library: “K2 Systems”, “ESDEC”, “Van Der Valk”, “GSE Integration”, “Renusol”, “Clenergy” or, for SPT (Solarmarkt), “novotegra”, “Arres” or “Ernst Schweizer AG”.

  • Except for GSE and Renusol, every panel field with panels has an Offset of 0% (panel field sidebar in the 3D Panel layout).

  • You only need a specific role in the project for K2 Base: there, only the Project manager (field on the Project settings page) can transfer, and only the user who transferred can import the bill of materials. Further rules of the manufacturer, for example on spacing or roof inclination, are shown on the integration's page itself.

How it works

  1. Plan the variant in the 3D Panel layout with a Mounting system from the manufacturer, and keep to the rules in your manufacturer's section further down.

  2. In the project, in the left-hand side menu, click your manufacturer's menu item from the table above in the Integrations group, for example ValkPVplanner. In the older navigation, it is in the left sidebar, or, with more than two such integrations, in the Mounting system Integrations section (where the ESDEC Calculator is called just ESDEC).

  3. Choose the variant in the Variant field; the active one is preselected if it is suitable, otherwise the first suitable one.

  4. Transfer the variant, for example with Transfer project data to Renusol, open the manufacturer's tool with the second button on the page (for example Open K2 Base or Open project in Renusol PV-Configurator), plan there and send the bill of materials back. With the ESDEC Calculator and the ValkPVplanner, you instead fill in one tab per roof and click Generate mounting system.

  5. Eturnity opens the variant's Bill of materials, makes it the active variant without asking and shows the Your bill of materials window.

Importing the bill of materials

The Your bill of materials window is the same for all integrations. On the first page, the new components are listed above the existing ones. A position counts as existing if your library has an active Other component for photovoltaics with exactly the same name; it comes with the price from your library.

Important: Every import replaces all previous collective positions in the Mounting system section of this variant, including those of another manufacturer.

  1. Enter Purchasing discount and Margin for the new components and, if requested, the exchange rate as well.

  2. Click Apply to all positions. Only then do the values apply; without this click, Eturnity uses the supplied prices without discount and margin.

  3. Click Import and choose Import to project variant only or, if there are new components, Import to library and project variant.

  4. Where the window shows them, compare the number of panels in your 3D layout with the number at the manufacturer, and click Apply.

The window asks for the exchange rate if your company does not work in euros, with the ValkPVplanner only for prices in another currency, with Solar.Pro.Tool never; until it has been applied, Import stays disabled. Eturnity does not use prices from Solar.Pro.Tool: new components have a price of 0. New components that you have added to the library are then listed in the Your components have been created successfully window; check their price breaks, because the prices come from the current project.

The positions then appear as a collective position in the Mounting system section of the Bill of materials, named after the manufacturer with date and time. In the offer, their sub-positions appear including prices; you control this in the details of the collective position with Show sub positions on PDF and Show prices of sub positions on PDF.

With K2 Base, only the user who transferred can import the bill of materials; for everyone else, including administrators, the window closes without a message. With the ESDEC Calculator and the ValkPVplanner, the window only opens for the user who generated the mounting system, and only right after generating; to import, a colleague generates again themselves. With the Renusol PV-Configurator, the window opens for every colleague, but Apply only works with your own valid Renusol connection. With the GSE Configurator and with Solar.Pro.Tool, any user in your company can import it.

The same returned bill of materials can only be applied once. If Apply fails with “An error has occurred. Please try again later.”, Discard and Apply stay disabled: close the window with the cross or with Esc and reload the page. If the variant no longer meets a condition, fix it and transfer or generate again.

If you change the layout afterwards

The import only brings in the bill of materials: it does not change your 3D layout, and layout changes in the manufacturer's tool do not come back. In the 3D Panel layout, below the mounting system, you then see for example “The mounting system does not correspond to the Bill of Materials! It has been replaced with a K2 collective position.” The collective position does not adapt to later changes:

  • If you choose a different mounting system or delete the last panel field or roof with a mounting system from this manufacturer, Are you sure? announces that the collective position will be removed from the bill of materials; check the Bill of materials afterwards. With Reset all geometry, it is removed in any case.

  • If you delete only one of several such panel fields, or change the panel placement or the Roof type, Eturnity does not ask, and the collective position keeps the old positions and quantities.

After changes to the layout, you therefore transfer or generate the variant again and import the new bill of materials. On import, Eturnity checks the conditions again; with K2 Base, whatever you change in the variant until it is opened in K2 Base is also included.

K2 Systems: K2 Base

With K2 Base, you plan the mounting system with products from K2 Systems in your K2 Base account. For this, each user generates their own token once under Settings › Integrations › K2 Base (new Settings navigation: Other) and enters it in K2 Base. Only the Project manager can transfer: Transfer project data to K2 only makes the variant available, and K2 Base only reads the data when the variant is opened there, once per transfer, and automatically creates a project from it. On a roof, all panel fields need a mounting system of the same type. Only the bill of materials comes back, as one collective position “K2 Systems” for all roofs, and only the user who transferred can import it. K2 Base is available with your licence; the article K2 Base Integration describes all the steps.

ESDEC: ESDEC Calculator

With the ESDEC Calculator, you plan the mounting system with products from ESDEC directly in Eturnity: for each roof, you fill in a tab, for example on loads, building and roof material, and click Generate mounting system. You do not need an account with ESDEC or a connection, even though the page subtitle refers to your ESDEC account; you do not see the project at ESDEC. ClickFit Basic, ClickFit Evo and FlatFix Fusion are calculated; ESDEC requires fixed panel spacing, at least 350 mm to the roof edge, a mounting system that suits the roof inclination and a building in one of the 19 countries ESDEC calculates for, including Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy and the United Kingdom. Eturnity only saves your entries once generating succeeds. One collective position is created per roof, and for each panel field, Eturnity stores a PDF report from ESDEC in the File manager. The ESDEC Calculator is available with your licence.

Van der Valk: ValkPVplanner

With the ValkPVplanner, you plan the mounting system with products from Van der Valk directly in Eturnity: for each roof, you fill in a tab with Workspace, Roof and System details and click Generate mounting system. You do not need an account with Van der Valk or a connection, and you do not see the project at Van der Valk. Panel inclination, east-west installation and panel orientation follow from the 3D Panel layout and the mounting system; on roofs with an inclination below 5°, the panels there must be inclined at exactly 10°. Eturnity never saves your entries; after generating successfully or reloading, you enter them again. One collective position is created per roof, and for each panel field, Eturnity stores a PDF report from Van der Valk in the File manager.

The ValkPVplanner is available with your licence and only for companies whose country in their company details at Eturnity is Germany, Belgium, Finland, the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain or Sweden. The country of the project does not count for this. You cannot see or change your company's country in Expert; if it is wrong, contact support.

GSE: GSE Configurator

With the GSE Configurator, you transfer a variant to GSE, plan the mounting system there with products from GSE Integration and send the bill of materials back with “Export to Eturnity”. In Eturnity, you do not connect anything; at GSE, you log in with an account under the email address of the user who transferred, because with a different email address you cannot open the transferred project. All panel fields need the same mounting system and, on a roof, the same direction, and GSE must accept the panel frame and the roof inclination. Open project in GSE Configurator opens the project once, for at most 24 hours and only in the browser in which you transferred. Any user in your company can import the bill of materials; one collective position “GSE Integration” is created for all roofs, and no documents are added to the File manager. The GSE Configurator is available with your licence.

Renusol: Renusol PV-Configurator

With the Renusol integration, you plan the mounting system with Renusol: you transfer a variant to the Renusol PV-Configurator, plan there and fetch the bill of materials back. Eturnity does not transfer which Renusol mounting system you selected in Eturnity: in the Renusol PV-Configurator, you choose from the Renusol systems that fit the dimensions of your layout, and the Renusol PV-Configurator uses the panel from Eturnity. Each user needs their own account with the Renusol PV-Configurator and connects it under Settings › Integrations › Renusol PV-Configurator (new Settings navigation: Other) with Login to Renusol. Renusol also checks each variant itself; Eturnity shows the reasons as Renusol sends them. The Your bill of materials window opens for every colleague, but Apply requires your own valid Renusol connection. One collective position “Renusol” is created for all roofs, and Eturnity stores reports from Renusol as PDF in the File manager. The Renusol PV-Configurator is available with your licence.

Clenergy: SPT (Clenergy)

With the Solar.Pro.Tool Clenergy integration, listed in the menu as SPT (Clenergy), you transfer a variant to your Clenergy account at Solar.Pro.Tool, plan the mounting system there with products from Clenergy and fetch the bill of materials back. Each user sets up the connection under Settings › Integrations › SPT (Clenergy) (new Settings navigation: Other) with Login to Clenergy; to log in, you need a Clenergy account. Each roof may only carry one panel field with panels, and on pitched roofs the panels must be aligned with the lowest edge of the panel field. Solar.Pro.Tool does not adopt the PV layout grid, the panel or the panel orientation; check the layout there after the transfer. Any user in your company can import the bill of materials; one collective position “SPT Systems (Clenergy)” is created per roof, without prices from Solar.Pro.Tool and without documents; you download documents on the mounting system directly in Solar.Pro.Tool. SPT (Clenergy) is available with your licence.

SPT (Solarmarkt): coming soon

Coming soon: the SPT (Solarmarkt) integration is not yet enabled. Once it is enabled, it works like SPT (Clenergy), with its own connection (Login to Solarmarkt) and your Solarmarkt account at Solar.Pro.Tool. The mounting systems of the variant must have “novotegra”, “Arres” or “Ernst Schweizer AG” as Manufacturer in your component library. One collective position “SPT Systems (Solarmarkt)” is created per roof; no documents come back.

Common problems

The menu item for the integration is missing

The entries appear in the project in the Integrations group only if the integration is enabled and the active variant uses photovoltaics (Variants page, Active technologies column). In the older navigation, with more than two such integrations, expand the Mounting system Integrations section. Only companies in eleven countries see the ValkPVplanner, and SPT (Solarmarkt) is coming soon. Only K2 Base, Renusol PV-Configurator and Solar.Pro.Tool have a page in Settings; you find the ESDEC Calculator, ValkPVplanner and GSE Configurator only in the project. If an integration is still missing, support will check your licence.

The variant is greyed out

A variant shown in grey in the Variant field does not meet a condition. If you select it anyway, the button stays disabled and an info card names each reason, for example “You cannot transfer a project variant that does not have an offset value of 0%. Please update the offset value in the panel layout.” Fix the reasons in the 3D Panel layout or in the library and open the page again. With K2 Base, only the Project manager sees the reasons, and Transfer project data to K2 also stays disabled as long as the variant is ready to be opened in K2 Base.

The Your bill of materials window closes immediately

If the window closes by itself after the loading spinner, without a message, this usually has one of three causes: with K2 Base, you are not logged in to Eturnity as the user who transferred; the same returned bill of materials has already been imported; or, with K2 Base and Solar.Pro.Tool, the variant has stopped meeting a condition since the transfer. With K2 Base, log in to Eturnity as the user who transferred and send the planning back from K2 Base once more. Otherwise, check the variant on the integration's page, fix it, transfer again and send the planning back from the manufacturer's tool once more.

The collective position has disappeared

A new import replaces all collective positions in the Mounting system section of the variant, including those of another manufacturer. The collective position can also be removed if you choose a different mounting system in the 3D Panel layout or delete the last panel field or roof of this manufacturer and confirm the Are you sure? prompt. Also check the variant: after every import, the variant of the import is the active one. To get it back, transfer or generate again and import the bill of materials once more.

The number of panels differs

Eturnity does not apply layout changes made in the manufacturer's tool. With K2, GSE, Renusol and Solar.Pro.Tool, the Your bill of materials window therefore shows the number of panels in your 3D layout and the number at the manufacturer before you click Apply. If they differ, adjust the 3D layout yourself or set the number: in the panel field sidebar, under Overwrite properties (expand it if it is collapsed), for Number of panels, switch on Enter manually and enter the number; in the older sidebar, the switch is called Overwrite number of panels manually. Do not change the mounting system while doing so. ESDEC and Van der Valk calculate with the panels from your 3D Panel layout.

I transferred several times – which bill of materials applies?

You can transfer or generate again at any time; with K2 Base, only once K2 Base has opened the previous transfer – the K2 Base page shows this after reloading. In the GSE Configurator and the Renusol PV-Configurator, every transfer creates a new project and older ones remain unchanged: work there with the one transferred last. Every import replaces all previous collective positions in the Mounting system section, including those of another manufacturer; so import the bill of materials from the latest planning.

New components have no prices or wrong prices

Purchasing discount and Margin only apply after Apply to all positions. Components that your library has as an active Other component for photovoltaics under exactly this name come with the library price. Eturnity does not use prices from Solar.Pro.Tool: new components have a price of 0. Create them with Import to library and project variant and enter the price in the library; it applies from the next import. Newly created library components carry the prices of the current project; check their price breaks.
