System Service, in the application, is a grouping of functionality or screens. It is also known as a “Service” or “Service Definition”, and will be generally referred to as “Service”.

The use of Services helps streamline the work that needs to be done for an individual assignment (also known as relocation or file). Equus Platform™ has many assignment-level screens, and Services can be used to limit the screens available for an assignment, so users only interact with the screens that represent the Services that are authorized for that assignment.

Similar to other screens, click

to create a new service in the Service Definition screen. Click the

to make changes to an existing System Service. There are two options for creating a service definition in the Create New Service By field:

  • Copying an Existing Service: Creates a new Service with the information of the one identified to copy from.

  • Defining a New Service: Creates a new, blank Service.

Selecting a Service Type for a Service will govern whether a Service Order is automatically created for that service when the service is authorized for an assignment. For more information about this functionality

This screen allows configuration of the Service.

  • Inactive: Identifies whether the Service can be associated with a Policy. When checked, the Service is not available for new Policies.

  • Service Type: Governs whether a Service Order is automatically created for that service when the service is authorized for an assignment. For more information about this functionality, see the “Authorize Services” section of this user manual.

  • Associated screen groups: This makes one or more screens available for an assignment when the Service associated is authorized for that assignment. Multiple screens can be associated with the same service. For example, when defining a service for Temporary Living, the Temporary Living screen can be associated so that when the Service is authorized for an assignment, temporary living information can be tracked.

  • Associated Functionality: The Associated Functionality section allows special functionality to be enabled when the selected Service is authorized for an assignment. Currently, the only Special Functionality available in this section is the Tax Assistance Calculation.

  • Associated Resource Roles: Allows specific resource roles to be associated with the Service when the Service is authorized for an assignment.

  • Associated Checklists: Allows checklists to be associated with the Service when a service is authorized for an assignment
