Users' access in the Equus Platform can be limited based on certain projects. For a given user, their access to projects can be limited to the following options:
Based on the options above, the access of users to assignments within projects can also be limited.
This security is defined at the user level in the User Maintenance screen on the Project Security section by checking the Apply Security Access for Projects tick box.
Note that using Project Security settings may affect the users' access to assignments, and current configurations for Company Segment, Special Security Group, and Country Security settings.
If there are existing configurations for the user's Country Security, a warning will be prompted for a reminder that the Project Security may affect current security configurations.
When the Apply Security Access for Projects tick box is checked, a new field will be visible in the same section called Only access to Projects the user is associated with.
View projects that users are associated as Contacts or Resources
When the Only access to Projects the user is associated with tick box is checked, the user will be able to view projects and all of its included assignments if the user is a Resource or Contact on the project.
If the Only access to Projects the user is associated with tick box is left unchecked, the users access to projects will then rely on the configured Country Security settings, as specified on the section below.
View projects based on which countries they are located in
A users access to projects can also be restricted based on the countries where the projects are located in. This configuration can be set under the Country Security tab in the User Maintenance screen.
When the Apply Security Access for Projects tick box is checked in the User Maintenance screen, two new columns will be available in the Country Exceptions section under the Country Security tab:
Project Only - when this is ticked for a specified country, the user will have access to any project that is located in the mentioned country. Note the user will not have access to the assignments that are included in the projects that they have access to.
Project and its Assignments - when this is ticked for a specified country, the user will have access to any project that is located in the mentioned country. Users will also be able to view assignments that are included in the projects that they have access to.
The Default Access Type in the Country Exceptions is also considered for the Project Security settings.
Default Access Type is set to Deny:
If there are no country exceptions specified, then the user will not have access to projects that have Locations.
If there are country exceptions specified, and Project Only is checked for the exceptions, then the user will have access to the projects with the same Locations. However, the user won't have access to the assignments included in the projects.
If there are country exceptions specified, and Project and its Assignments is checked for the exceptions, then the user will have access to the projects with the same Locations. The user will also be able to view assignments that are included in the projects that they have access to.
Default Access Type is set to Grant:
If there are no country exceptions specified, then the user will have access to projects that have Locations.
If there are country exceptions specified, and Project Only is checked for the exceptions, then the Project and its Assignments will also be automatically checked, and the user will not have access to the projects with the same Locations. The user won't have access to the assignments included in these projects.
If Project and its Assignments is checked, then Project Only will also be automatically checked, and the same effects are applied.
Things to Note
If the Apply Security Access for Projects tick box is left unchecked, the user will have access to any existing projects for the company that they are associated with.
If a project does not have any specified Contacts or Locations, Project Security is not applied and any user can have access to the project.
There are three Security configurations in the User Maintenance screen that will override Project Security settings:

When the Restrict to Access Group Assignments is checked
When the Restrict Coordinators to their Own Assignments is checked
