The cache duration can be specified at the dashboard level and overridden at a widget level. If a widget needs it data refreshed more frequently, it can be configured to have a shorter cache period than the cache period set at the dashboard level.
When a cache duration is specified for a widget and it has been configured to display the age of the data together with the refresh icon, the age and the icon appears in the bottom right-hand corner of the widget. When the refresh icon is pressed for a widget, the data for just that widget is refreshed. It is possible not to display the age and the icon which is intended to be useful for widgets that contain static content.
To configure the cache duration at a widget level, first find the widget to update from the Widget Maintenance screen at the system level. Also, you can find the widget through the dashboard layouts. Find the Dashboard that the widget appears on and use the Widget and Report Links section. Click on the Widget Name link to access the Widget Maintenance screen for that widget. You can check with your Equus Representative if this is inactive in your Equus platform instance.
Enabling Widget Caching
To add the ability to cache the data at a widget level, enter a value for the Cache Number of Hours Override field on Widget Maintenance screen. The value entered will be the number of hours the data will be cached and will override any value entered on the Dashboard configuration page. For example, enter 0.05 hours to set the cache to every 3 minutes. Enter a value of 0 for no caching.
To display the data indicating the age of the data in the widget and the refresh icon, ensure the Hide As of Date and Refresh Icon checkbox is unticked. This checked box is set to checked/ticked for all existing widgets and will need to be unchecked for the data and icon to appear in the widget.
