Core Flex policies are an optional feature of the Equus Platform™. While the term Core Flex has multiple interpretations, in the Equus Platform™ it refers to Policies that allow for both required (core) benefits as well as modifiable (flex) benefits as part of a relocation authorization.
Core Flex Policies increase the success of relocations by better aligning benefit amounts with an employee’s needs while simultaneously lowering costs by reducing or eliminating unnecessary benefits.
Because Core Flex policies allow for budgeting constraints to be defined within the policy itself, the ability to create an authorization and set benefit amounts can all be safely done by business groups outside of the mobility team.
A Core Flex policy is similar in its configuration to a traditional policy. However, it requires an Assignment Package, a Benefit Set, and a Core Flex Exception Approval Ruleset. All of these have different levels of dependency on User Tables.
Multiple policies can use the same Assignment Package and/or Benefit Set and/or Core Flex Exception Approval Ruleset. Authorization Templates support both Core Flex and non-Core Flex policies. To use Core Flex Policies, Authorization Templates must have both the Services and Assignment Package steps enabled.
An example of the configuration steps used to enable a Core Flex workflow is as follows:
Create User Table fields to support your Flexible Benefit Set Line Items
Create a Benefit Set
Create Benefit Set Line items, necessary User Reports, and link to User Table fields
Create Core Flex Exception Approver rules
Create an Assignment Package
Create a Core Flex policy to bring everything together
Create an Authorization Template that allows selection of the Core Flex policy
