The user can add as many steps as desired in a Business Rule. There are no limits as to the number of steps a business rule can have.
The Jump to Step option is often used for the THEN and ELSE sections where in if the condition is met, it will move to the respective step configured. To configure, click
to create additional steps.
Click the step name displayed on screen to rename the step in Business Rule. By default, it will start from Step 1, Step 2 and so on. With multiple steps, it is possible to change the sequence of steps. To do this, click on the
icon of the step to move and drag and drop the step to the desired position.
Example
We have renamed Step 1 to Check Policy, we are then configuring multiple steps to return for this. Select Jump to Step option for the THEN and ELSE section. The list of steps in the Business Rule will be displayed in the drop down list and you can select the value.
For this example, the configuration follow if condition is true, this will move to Step 2 which is Calculate the # of days in Assignment or when false to a different step.
Things to Note
Multi-step calculations will perform faster if the "Jump to Step" component is used in the THEN step and the calculation is defined in the ELSE step. See How to ensure Business Rules are performing efficiently.
