Once a Business Rule is created, it can be used in other business rules to perform calculations. There is no limit as to how many business rules can be created and used in other business rules or on how many business rules can be used within a business rule. This powerful feature allows the output of the business rule to flow from one business rule into another and also allows the nesting of business rules inside other business rules.
An example of where a business rule can be used in other business rules is having multiple business rules that all rely on the same business rule logic within them. Instead of creating the same logic in all business rules, this logic could be moved in a separate business which can then be used by multiple business rules in order to lower maintenance effort and costs.
To retrieve and use the result from another business rule, select Other Business Rules as the Data Source.
Click on the field and the list of active Business Rules is displayed.
The name of the Business Rule is displayed once it is selected. To view the details of the Business rule, you can click the component and it will open a new window/tab. You can also navigate to the Business Rules screen and click on the pencil icon to view the details of the Business Rule.
