What is a Group Template?

Group Templates are defined at a System level in AssignmentPro and revolve around a group of members that have a common definition. A user can define which Profiles the members of the group will use.

Based on the selected Profile, the User Types that are part of the Group Template will ultimately define the User Types members will be created with.

If a user is a member of a Group Template that holds different profiles with different User Types, it will be created with those different types in the new structure. Group Templates can not only include users but other groups of members.

Group Template creation is facilitated with a SCIM request, i.e. it is initiated by the external client IDP. AssignmentPro users can view Group Templates on the Group Maintenance screen and manage which Profiles will be assigned to a specific group.

In order for a user to access Group templates, the user's security role must have View, Edit and Add security rights to the Group Maintenance screen. See more on how to do this

View a Group Template

  1. Navigate to the Group Maintenance screen using the Global Search.

  2. Click on the pencil icon to view a template record.

  3. The Group Maintenance screen displays four sections:

Details - displays the Name and Group Id which are not editable. A description can be added to the template to provide more details

User Profile - defines the user profile or profiles for the group template

Group Members - defines the groups for the group template

User Members

This grid displays all the members of the Group - either direct membership or inherited membership (if a Parent Group for those users is a member of this Group)

In the example above, Alphonso.Yost is a member of 'New Setup Group 312' directly.

Clicking on the

button reveals he is a member of another group - 'External Group 298'. This is also a member of 'New Setup Group 312', therefore, this user is related in 2 different paths with 'New Setup Group 312'
