Prerequisites
Completed the previous step — the practice project is created and saved as LDTrainingSample.ld3
Steps
1.) Understand editable dimensions. Editing a dimension value in DigiPara Liftdesigner changes the 3D BIM model directly — for example, changing the car width. Only dimensions with blue dimension text can be edited, either via the dimension's Properties or by double-clicking it. Dimension values can also be changed in Design Mode (hatches turned off).
2.) Understand resulting (grayed-out) dimensions. Resulting or grayed-out dimensions cannot be edited directly. Only some special dimensions — such as the shaft width (SW) and shaft depth (SD) — can be changed indirectly.
3.) Understand chain dimensions. Chain dimensions — like the shaft width (SW) and shaft depth (SD) — consist of a chain of individual dimensions. The values a chain consists of can be changed via the Properties docking window.
4.) Edit the project's units via Document Settings. Edit the project's units via the Document Properties.
Result
You can tell which dimensions are directly editable (blue text) versus resulting/grayed-out, and know that a few special dimensions like SW/SD can still be changed indirectly.
