Step 4 of 4: Verify and Distribute Your Custom BIM Properties

C1.4: Verify and share your new Custom BIM Properties

Written by Alexandra Göttert

Prerequisites

  • The property set, its individual properties, and its scoping rule are all defined.

Steps

1.) Verify the property in Liftdesigner. Your custom BIM properties are now available in Liftdesigner. If Liftdesigner was already open, the change won't appear automatically — start a new project to pick up what you just changed in the Datamanager.

2.) Export and share the module. Once your custom BIM properties are finished, export the edited manufacturer module as a *.ldm12 file and share it with other users.

Pitfalls:

  • Double-check the RID area before you start — properties are added under whichever manufacturer module is active, so working in the wrong one puts your custom properties in the wrong place.

  • If Liftdesigner is already open when you finish editing in the Datamanager, your changes won't show up in the current session — start a new project rather than assuming the running one will pick them up.

Result

A custom BIM property set — with its own group, properties, value types, display order, and (optionally) a rule restricting it to specific component types — available globally to every Liftdesigner project that uses your manufacturer module, and ready to export and share with other users.

Tutorial complete

This was the final step of the Create Custom BIM Properties tutorial. You've created a BIM Property Group and Set, added and configured individual properties (including IFC type mapping), scoped them with a BIM Property Rule, and verified and distributed the result.
