Step 6 of 8: Export Messages to Excel

B4.6: How to use Excel Export for Messages and Translations

Written by Alexandra Göttert

This is the faster alternative to translating messages one at a time directly in the Datamanager — useful once you have many messages to translate.

Prerequisites

  • Completed the previous steps.

  • Microsoft Excel.

Steps

1.) The MessageNo records you want translated are registered. Add three new Messages like Car Depth, Car Width, Car Height — export only picks up messages that already exist.

2.) Close all tables before starting. Close every open table in the Datamanager before beginning the export — this is required for the export to work correctly.

3.) Start the translation export. Use the translation export action in the Datamanager.

4.) Locate the exported Excel file. The exported file is found under the data pool path, e.g. C:\ProgramData\DigiPara\2021\dcc\DataPool\data.

Result

Your registered messages are exported to an Excel file, ready to be translated outside the Datamanager.
