Step 3 of 10: Understand the Mechanical Prototype DWG File and Save Conditions

B3.3: Saving the DWG in the Data Pool Directory.

Written by Alexandra Göttert

Prerequisites

  • Your standard prototype DWG file is prepared.

Steps

1.) Understand the AutoCAD Mechanical prototype file. The AutoCAD Mechanical prototype file, TablesAM.dwg, contains a default set of DigiPara Liftdesigner-specific, component-based layer groups — use it instead of the standard prototype if your workflow is built around AutoCAD Mechanical.

2.) Confirm the correct save location and file format. The customized prototype DWG file must be stored in the data pool's dwg directory, the same as the standard prototype. Use AutoCAD 2000/LT 2000 Drawing (*.dwg) for a standard prototype, or AutoCAD Mechanical 2004 Drawing (*.dwg) for a Mechanical prototype.

Result

You know when to use the Mechanical prototype file instead of the standard one, and the correct location and format to save either kind in.
