Step 14 of 14: Create a Custom Render Surface and Assign It to a Color

PL9.14: Manage your Cabin Visualization - Surface

Written by Alexandra Göttert

Final part of the sequential Cabin Design tutorial.

Prerequisites

  • A custom render color exists.

  • A texture image file, ideally in PNG or BMP format for smooth use.

Steps

1.) Add a new render surface record. In DigiPara Liftdesigner Datamanager, in Edit Mode, add a new render surface record with a specific description (for example, "DigiPara Logo"). Open a new table tab to save the new content.

2.) Select the texture file. Set the description for the new surface and select the texture image file (bitmap) in your file explorer — PNG or BMP is recommended for smooth use.

3.) Review the surface's remaining parameters. For this example, leave the remaining render surface parameters as they are.

4.) Assign the new surface to a render color. In Edit Mode, assign the surface you created to the render color from the previous step, adding a specific description and saving via a new table tab.

5.) Confirm the result and adjust texture angle/scale if needed. Confirm the new surface and color are now available in DigiPara Liftdesigner. Texture angle and texture scale can be changed individually per component if the texture needs adjusting.

Result

A custom render surface exists, linked to your custom render color, and both are available to apply to any BIM component's 3D objects — with texture angle and scale adjustable per use.

Tutorial complete

This was the final step of the PL9 Cabin Design & Visualization tutorial. You've built a complete cabin design — walls, ceiling, floor, mirrors, hand rails, and a CAD-model-based light — each assembled from its own component hierarchy and, where applicable, controlled by dynamic rules, and finished with custom render colors and surfaces for visualization.
