Step 7 of 14: Load the Car Frame, Load the Developer Work Area, and Add Its CAD Models

PL3.7: Add and align CAD Models to your Car Frame

Written by Alexandra Göttert

Prerequisites

  • The the car frame exists in the DigiPara BIM Library with the guide shoe assigned.

  • The car frame's CAD model files (from the practice ZIP, or your own prepared, split assemblies).

Steps

1.) Load your edited car frame in DigiPara Liftdesigner. Load the car frame you copied and configured before.

2.) Load the Developer Work Area via the BIM Component. Select the car frame in an existing view frame and click Develop this BIM Component on the Develop BIM Components ribbon tab.

3.) Add multiple CAD models to the one BIM component. Using a developer section view in the Developer Work Area, insert each of the car frame's separate CAD assemblies — DigiPara Liftdesigner does not currently support importing several CAD models at once. Each model is inserted at the base point of the parent component.

4.) Align each CAD model using X, Y, and Z coordinates. On the CAD Models ribbon tab, align each inserted model using the X, Y, and Z orientation controls, the same way as for the guide shoe.

Result

All of the car frame's separate CAD assemblies are inserted at its base point and correctly aligned.
