Results similarity

This curve shows you how the similarity between your search and the analyzed results decreases from your highest ranked results to the lowest ones.
The vertical axis shows you the value of similarity, indicating how closely each patent family matches your search. Higher positions on the vertical axis correspond to higher similarity scores, signifying greater relevance. The horizontal axis displays the ranking of patent families in the result list, with the highest-similarity patents on the left and the lower-ranked ones on the right.

Suggestion:

By clicking on the curve, you can filter your results up to that point, cutting down the least relevant ones. Use this graph in combination with others to better understand your immediate technology field.

Patent families over time

This chart shows the distribution of patent families from the result list based on their priority year.
The horizontal axis represent the priority year, while the vertical axis count the number of patent families. The orange curve shows the average similarity of your search with the patent families from that specific year.

Suggestion:

The chart provides valuable insights into the lifecycle of the technology defined by your query, illustrating the patenting activity of that specific technology over the years and which years might be the most relevant ones based on your search.

Patent family legal status

This graph shows the legal status of the underlying patent families. A patent family is classified as ‘Valid’ if at least one of its members is active and currently valid. Conversely, a family is considered ‘Invalid’ if at least one of its members is invalid. Additionally, if the status of any family member is unknown, the family is categorized as "unknown." Please note that a family may be counted twice as valid and invalid if it contains members with a mix of valid and invalid legal status.

Suggestion:

Analyze patent families classified as both Valid and Invalid, as they may have members with contrasting legal statuses. Understanding the reasons behind this mix can provide insights into potential challenges or opportunities within the portfolio.
