I'm new to Slack. What is it and how does it work?

What is Slack?

Slack is a messaging app designed for workplaces, and can be used across multiple devices and platforms.

What are the Slack Workspaces?

The Slack Workspace is a forum; we have two dedicated Workspaces:

🟢 The Community Workspace is open for all users. Joining is very easy, just click the button below and follow the instructions on the screen ⬇️

🟠 Curator Workspace is exclusively available for those who have passed the Curator Test 🎓 (we explain how to become a Curator in detail in these articles).

If you're already a part of the Community Workspace, check out these awesome Avatars, that you can use for your profile picture there. 🎨 ✨

Rules

Breaking a workspace rule can get you banned with no warning

- No NSFW content, vulgar language, or pornographic content.

- No harassing or abusing other users, under any circumstance.

- No self-advertising: sharing a link to your own website counts as spam, and sharing illegal download links in public channels is not allowed either way.

- No spamming by exploiting tags and mentions. This can result in a warning.

Interactions on this platform are also subject to our Community Behavior Policy.

We’re a wonderfully large and diverse community and Musixmatch will always encourage its users to communicate in ways that respect and acknowledge this. Using gender-neutral pronouns in your requests, or sticking to the name given on a user’s profile, can help make sure that everyone experiences our Community as the safe space we strive for ❤️

Channels and Direct Messages

  • Channels are public chat rooms 🌍 (anyone in the Workspace can see them).

  • Direct Messages are always private conversations with specific users 🔒.

You can find both the Channels and the Direct Messages in the sidebar.

💡 TIP

You can identify a channel by its # symbol.

The Slack Community is a great one to be a part of, so join today and enjoy!

What if I want to leave?

We’ll for sure be sorry to see you go, but will of course be happy to support you and take the necessary steps to remove your account from the workspace. You’ll just have to reach out to one of the workspace moderators and make the request.
