How to Get a Connector

Updated this week

To participate in secure and governed data exchange in Catena-X, every company needs a certified Eclipse Dataspace Connector (EDC). If your organization does not yet have one, this guide will help you understand your options.

Option 1: Use the Dataspace OS App

The Dataspace OS app by Cofinity-X includes a pre-configured and certified connector, bundled with additional tools and seamless integration into the Catena-X ecosystem.

Best for:

  • Companies looking for an all-in-one solution

  • Anyone new to Catena-X or without technical resources

Why choose this:

  • Connector is already certified and fully managed

  • Full technical support from Cofinity-X

  • Step-by-step guidance throughout setup and operations

  • Fastest way to get started with data exchange

To get started:

  • Go to Marketplace > App Marketplace

  • Search for Dataspace OS

  • Review the T&Cs

  • Click Subscribe

Option 2: Use a Third-Party App Provider

Several providers in the App Marketplace offer plug-and-play connector hosting, removing the need for in-house infrastructure.

Best for:

  • Companies wanting to avoid setup and hosting burdens

  • Faster deployment with certified solutions

How to access:

  • Go to Marketplace > App Marketplace

  • Search through the App listings to identify an App Provider of your choosing

  • Review the T&Cs

  • Subscribe to the App Provider of your choice

Option 3: Build Your Own Connector

You can build and host your own connector using the Tractus-X EDC open-source framework. This option offers full technical flexibility but also requires significant in-house expertise.

Best for:

  • Teams with deep technical capabilities

  • Companies wanting full ownership and control

Key notes for building your own Connector:

  • Certification is mandatory for the connector to join Catena-X. Certification involves an audit and associated costs.

  • Cofinity-X does not provide technical support for custom-built connectors using Tractus-X.

  • You’re fully responsible for hosting, setup, and maintenance.

Next Steps

Once your connector is fully setup, proceed to testing your connector and registering it:
