The Submodel Service Details allows you to search, add, edit, and remove submodels, while displaying details such IDs and source types. This view also contains the logs of the selected submodel service component.

A Submodel in Catena-X represents a standardized digital twin component that defines specific data structures and semantics for sharing information about an asset or process across organizations. It enables interoperable data exchange by adhering to established standards like Asset Administration Shell (AAS).

Each submodel uses a semantic model.

Submodels

This view displays a list of all available submodels.

Use the Search Field πŸ”ŽοΈŽ in the top left to look up a specific submodel. The list will only show submodels which contain the entered value.

Use the Sort Feature β‡… in the header to sort the submodels in an ascending or descending order. When using this feature, the affected column header is highlighted.

Add a Submodel

TIP

Creating your own first submodel is a daunting task. Especially when the semantic structure and data format need to be considered.

We recommend creating the JSON beforehand by using our guide Use Submodel Templates to Generate a Submodel see _RS. This will provide you with a valid JSON which can be copypasted into the submodel.

  1. Select Add new submodel.
    The new submodel is set up in the dialog.

  2. Edit the submodel:

  • You can edit the plain text.

  • You can upload a file.

  1. Finish by selecting Save.

Edit a Submodel

  1. To edit a submodel, choose the submodel from the list.

  2. Select the Options Menu and select Edit submodel.

  3. Edit the shell descriptor:

  • You can edit the plain text.

  • Use the option Switch to the simple editor, to show a simplified view of the submodel. This view provides syntax highlighting, a structured view and a convenient editing mode.

  • Use Reset to undo all changes.

  1. Finish by selecting Save.

More Options

  • To access more options for a shell descriptor, select Options Menu.

Delete a Submodel

1. To delete a submodel, choose the submodel from the list.

2. Select the Options Menu and select Delete. Confirm the removal.

NOTICE

Risk of Data Loss

Removing an item cannot be undone. Before removing, make sure the item is not in use.

The view displays the status of each submodel service.
