What is a Task?

Tasks in CoolPlanetOS are records of actions to be taken by specific individuals which can be categorised and prioritised by their business impact. There are two different types of tasks; manual and watcher-triggered.

Tasks are found under the 'Optimise' menu. The Task list screen lists Tasks by;

  • Name: The name of the Task (defaults to the Watcher name if created by a Watcher)

  • Assignee: Who the Task is assigned to

  • Status: The status of the Task, ie. Open, In Progress or Closed

  • Created Date: The date the Task was created

  • Source: The Task source, ie. whether it was created by a Watcher, or manually created

  • Site: The site the Task is assigned to

  • Time in Status: The duration a Task has been in its current status

  • Latest Event: The date of the most recent Event causing the Task

Task Detail

Clicking the row of any Tasks in the list opens the Task detail view.

The Task Detail screen is split into the following sections:

Task Overview

Showing general information about the Task, ie:

  • Name: The name of the Task

  • Description: Optional description of the Task

  • Site: The site the Task is assigned to

  • Created date: The date the Task was created

  • Source: Indicates whether a Task was created by a Watcher or manually. If created by a Watcher, a link to the Watcher is provided, as is a link to the events created by the watcher. If created manually, the creator's username is displayed.

Task Designation

Showing the following:

  • Assignee: The assignee of the Task

  • Subscribers: Subscribers to the task, who receive updates of changes made

Status

Showing the following:

  • Status: The current status of the Task, ie. Open, In Progress, or Closed

  • Time in Status: The duration it has been in that status.

Comments

Boost collaboration within your organisation within the comment section, and harness the power of @mention to delegate tasks, highlight issues, or keep everyone informed. Users can subscribe or unsubscribe to the comment thread within a Task by clicking the bell icon in the comment tab.
