SEU Metrics

SEU Metrics are standardised metrics which are used to normalise SEU performance reporting, metric name and units across all sites to allow for consistency of reporting and ease of comparison. SEU Metrics are populated with data from two areas, SEU energy data comes from asset attributes, while the SEU production data comes from site attributes.

Configuring the available SEUs

CoolPlanetOS currently allows for up to 6 SEUs to be selected for use across all sites. These 6 SEUs can be selected from a prepackaged set of over 120 SEU categories ranging from Abattoir to X-Ray machines. To select the 6 SEUs use the new “Client Preferences” menu item in the Admin Menu on the top menu bar.

Adding an Asset to an SEU

SEUs are groups of assets which are all associated with a similar activity (eg HVAC, Steam, etc). Assets can only belong to a single SEU. If an asset is involved in more than one SEU, it should be added to the SEU which makes the most use of it.

To add an asset to an SEU, go to the General tab of the Asset in the Organise section and select the SEU in the “Energy Use Category” menu.

Simple SEU Metrics

Simple SEU Metrics are metrics that are directly read from attributes, such as energy. In order for Simple SEU Metrics to be displayed in an Enterprise Dashboard, a single attribute needs to be tagged with the tag for that metric in each asset in the SEU (e.g. "Energy". The energy from each of these assets is then summed together to calculate the total SEU energy. SEU Metrics are all displayed in a specific unit (e.g. kWh for Energy), however the attribute does not need to be in that unit, so long as the quantity is correct, the system will auto convert it to the correct display unit for the SEU Metric.

The outputs of SEUs (in mass, volume or area serviced), are tagged at the site level.

The following is a table of the available simple SEU metrics, and the details of the attribute they can read from. Assets do not need to have an attribute for all of these metrics, just the metrics they wish to display in the Enterprise Dashboards.

Where to tag

Simple Metric/Tag Name

Attribute Quantity

Description

Asset Attributes

Energy

Energy

A single asset attribute representing the total energy consumption for the asset.

Asset Attributes

Model Energy

Energy

A single asset attribute representing the total modelled energy consumption for the asset.

Site Attributes

<SEU Name> Product Out

Mass

A single site attribute representing the total product out (in mass) associated with the SEU.

Site Attributes

<SEU Name> Product Out

Volume

A single site attribute representing the total product out (in volume) associated with the SEU.

Site Attributes

<SEU Name> Floor Area

Area

A single site attribute representing the total floor area (in area) associated with the SEU.

Calculated SEU Metrics

Calculated SEU Metrics are SEU metrics which are automatically calculated using Simple SEU Metrics. This means that in order for a Calculated SEU Metric to appear in Enterprise Dashboards, all of its associated Simple SEU Metrics need to be tagged.

The following is a table of the available calculated SEU metrics, and the details of what they represent.

Calculated Metric Name

Calculation (Expressed in Simple Metrics)

Description

Energy / Product Out

SUM of Energy / Product Out

Input intensity KPI based on Total SEU Energy divided by total product out for the SEU (same for area).

Energy / Model Energy

Energy / Model Energy

Operational Drift KPI based on the ratio of main energy to modelled energy
