Making Comments on Timesheets

Make communication faster and clearer without back and forth phone calls

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Comments can be added to timesheets to make communication faster and clearer. Instead of back-and-forth phone calls or emails, individuals can leave a note directly on their timesheet to flag issues such as hours worked, sign-in details, or pay queries.

For operatives, this can be done easily in the Chime app, while managers and admins can also add or respond to comments on the desktop. Comments appear on the timesheet itself, so approvers can see them immediately when reviewing hours and make adjustments if needed.

Making Comments on Timesheet (Chime App)

  1. On the home screen, select the Timesheet tile.

  2. Your current week will display at the top.

  3. Tap the Add Comment button.

  4. Type your comment in the text field.

  5. Press Save.

  6. Your line manager or approver will be able to see the comment immediately when they review your timesheet.

Viewing and making Comments on Timesheet (Desktop)

  1. Go to Chime Time.

  2. Select the Detailed Approvals tab.

  3. On the left-hand side, you can see a list of all the individuals. A small comment blue icon will appear next to individuals who have added comments, so you can quickly spot and review them before approving.

  4. Select the individual you are reviewing.

  5. To view or add a comment, scroll to the bottom of the page.

  6. Read comment (if one written) and click Add Comment if you need to add one.

  7. Write your comment and press Send.

    • This will notify the individual if you have a query for them.

Use Case

  • Everyone can add comments to their own timesheet.

  • Managers and admins can view and reply to comments, making it a useful two-way communication tool. This is especially valuable for clarifying hours, resolving discrepancies, or addressing pay-related queries.

πŸ’‘ Tips

  • Use comments to flag missing sign-ins/outs, incorrect hours, or special pay notes.

  • Keep comments short and clear so managers can act quickly.

  • Always check for comment icons in Detailed Approvals before finalising timesheets.
