Create a Board

Collect a set of ideas from your audience, structure and rank them based on a vote.

You can also create actions and decisions from the idea cards sent by your participants.

Add the Board activity

To add the activity to your presentation:

  • Click on Add a slide in the top left of your session

  • Scroll down the menu until you see Board

  • Click on it

The activity is integrated into your presentation; it is saved automatically and appears as a slide in the navigation bar on the left. An editing panel appears automatically on the right-hand side of your screen.

Customise the activity

Title and instructions

  • The default title is the name of the activity. To change it, delete the automatic title and enter your own question or a customised title

  • Add an instruction to give more details about your activity (optional)

Activity format

Choose between two participation modes:

  • Live (Share directly): ideas sent by participants are visible to everyone as soon as they are sent

  • Prepare in a notepad: participants write down their ideas in a private space, not visible to other participants, before publishing them on the Board

The notepad lets each participant reflect individually before pooling their ideas.

Categories

  • Add as many categories as you like via Add a category

  • The colour to the left of each category title field can be changed

  • The red bin on the right lets you delete suggestions

Additional options

  • Make ideas anonymous

  • Match ideas to colours

  • Enable voting, by likes or points

Launch settings can be added to the activity (see the article on Time management settings)

Presentation settings

  • Moderate ideas before they are published: the presenter is notified each time an idea is sent, and must accept or reject it via the Moderate button at the bottom right of the activity

  • Display the number of ideas sent

Start the activity

Click on Start in the top right-hand corner of the activity.

This only works on live mode

Send an idea

  • First, select the category

  • Enter your idea in the dedicated space

  • Then click Send

Colour and image

  • Add a colour to each idea you send

  • Attach an image to an idea: from your computer, from Beekast's royalty-free image library, or via a link

Edit categories

  • The "+" button to the right of the last column lets you add another column

  • From the three small dots to the right of each category, you can edit the category, hide it, or delete it

Manage sent ideas

From the three small dots next to each idea, you can:

  • Edit the idea

  • Move it to another category

  • Create a group of ideas, to bring together similar ideas or ideas on the same subject

  • Plan and assign an action to your participants

  • Make a decision

  • Delete the idea

💡Good to know

  • The owner and collaborators can plan an action or make a decision from an idea card on the Board

  • The actions and decisions taken appear in the Action space, on the banner to the right of the session

Vote on ideas

Once all the ideas have been placed on the Board:

  • Click on Start polling at the top right of the activity

  • Click on Vote and assign Likes or Points to the ideas of your choice

Layout options

  • Switch between board view and list view using the dedicated icons

  • List view gives you a more global view of your categories: you can expand and collapse each category to change the way your items are displayed

Activity options

At any time, you can:

  1. Reset

  2. Edit

  3. Duplicate

  4. Delete

Alternatively, click the "Edit" button in the toolbar on the right side of the session.

Is the Board activity available to all accounts?

No, it is reserved for Premium users.

Can participants see other people's ideas before sending theirs?

This depends on the format chosen. In "Live" mode, ideas are visible as soon as they are sent. In "Prepare in a notepad" mode, they remain private until published on the Board.

Who can plan an action or make a decision from an idea?

The owner of the session and collaborators can do this from an idea card on the Board.

Where can I find the actions and decisions created from the Board?

In the Action space, on the banner to the right of the session.

How do I add a new category once the activity has started?

By clicking on the "+" button to the right of the last column.

How does voting work on the Board?

Once ideas have been collected, click "Start polling", then "Vote" to assign likes or points to the ideas.
