The IP allow list security feature will stop a log in attempt to both the App and Atlas central in the event a user attempts to log in while connected to IP address that have not been added to an organisation configurable list. our IP allow list function can support both static and dynamic IP requirements.

To enable this feature follow this process:

1. Log in to Atlas Central.

2. Go to Security settings located within the manage my care home section in the left hand menu panel.

3. Select your IP address type "Static IP", a Static IP address is a fixed address that is manually assigned to a device and does not change over time) or "Dynamic IP" Dynamic IP address is an address that changes periodically.

If you are unsure of the type of IP address your organisation uses please speak to your IT department or Internet provider before enabling this feature!

4. Enter your IP address into the static IP address list section (a semi-colon will be need to separate multiple IP addresses eg 1.1.1.1; 2.2.2.2;)

5. Press save.

Useful Information:

Atlas Central is a web-based application that by default can be accessed over the internet from anywhere, including mobile data networks; Organisations may wish to restrict to networks within their control.

There are various considerations you will need to make when deciding which option(s) to choose. The following are a list of factors you may wish to consider:

  • Do the locations where access is required have static IP addresses?

  • What are the contingencies when the primary network is unavailable (e.g. often homes may tether from mobile data if their organisations network connectivity is down)?

  • Do any of your team need to access the system remotely (e.g. from home networks)?

  • Will your internal IT team be able to provision any changes to the allow list when required?

  • Are there any exceptions to the rule(s)?

  • Mobile devices generate a different IP address each login, which can cause problems if on a 4G network and not using the organisation’s network.
