Upload Music to Amuse: A Step-by-Step Guide

Follow this step-by-step guide to learn how to upload your release, add the required details, and prepare your music for distribution.

Ready to get your music out into the world? This step-by-step guide walks you through how to upload your release and prepare it for distribution to streaming platforms.

To get started, simply click on the Create New Release button in the Music tab. Alternatively, go to Release > Music Release.

Release Details

First things first, enter your release details. This includes:

  1. Your release title: This is the name of your single, EP, or album. If you're releasing a single track, the release title must match your song title. Keep artist names and version information out of the title, and add them in their respective fields later. Read more about title guidelines in this article.

  2. Record label (optional): This field is only available to Artist Pro users. If you don't enter a label name, we'll automatically use your primary artist name.

  3. Genre: Select the genre of your release, such as Pop, Alternative, or Rock. If you can't find a specific genre, select the closest match from the list.

  4. Release title language: Select the language in which your release title is written.

  5. Was this release distributed before? Select Yes if all tracks on this release have been released before. If the release includes one or more tracks that have never been released before, select No. If you select Yes, enter the date the release was first released. Please note that you'll need to provide the corresponding ISRC for all previously released tracks at a later step.

Cover Art

Upload the image you want listeners to see when they discover your release. Your artwork must meet certain requirements to be approved. You can find the full list here. The main requirements include but aren't limited to:

  • Ensuring your cover art is a square .jpg or .png file with a minimum dimension of 1400 × 1400 px (3000 × 3000 px recommended).

  • Making sure the image is clear and high-quality, with no blurriness or pixelation.

  • Including (but not mandatory) the artist name, the release title, or both, but no other text, logos, or social media handles. Only include the Explicit Content logo if your release contains explicit content.

We also offer artwork generation on our Artist Plus and Artist Pro plans. To create your own artwork, click the Generate Artwork button, which you'll find below the Browse Images / Replace Cover Art button.

Track List

This is where you’ll upload your audio files and add your track details. There are several ways to create a track and upload its audio. Click Browse Audio or simply drag and drop an audio file to create a track. Alternatively, click Add Track to create a track and upload its audio file later.

Before uploading an audio file, make sure it meets the requirements listed in this article.

By default, the first track you add will have the same title as your release. However, if you’re releasing an EP or album, you can change the first track’s title. As a quick reminder, releases are categorized as follows:

  • Single: 1–3 tracks

  • EP: 4–6 tracks

  • Album: 7 or more tracks

To edit or delete a track, click the three-dot menu next to it.

You can also change the track order by holding and dragging the ☰ icon.

To enter the track details, simply click on the track. A new window will open with four steps.

Track details: Step 1

  1. Track title: Enter the track title. If you’re releasing a single-track release, the track title must match the release title.

  2. Track title language: Select the language in which your track title is written.

  3. Recording year: Enter the year the track was recorded.

  4. Version (optional): Selecting a version is optional. You can choose from the list of approved versions available. If you have a custom version, you can add it to the title in parentheses or contact our Support team to check whether it can be added for you after the release has been submitted for review.

  5. ISRC (optional): If the track you’re uploading is, or has previously been, available as part of another release, you should use its existing ISRC code. This applies whether you released it through Amuse or another distributor. If the track has never been released before, you can leave this field empty, and we’ll assign an ISRC for you. As a reminder, an ISRC consists of 12 characters.

  6. Vocals: Select Yes or No to indicate whether your track contains vocals. Background vocals also count as vocals. If you select Yes, you must select the language of your lyrics. If your lyrics include more than one language, you can select either language or the most prominent one.

  7. Explicit content: Indicate whether your track contains explicit content. If it includes swearing, derogatory language, drug references, or similar content, you must mark it as Explicit. You can only select Clean if an explicit version of the same song is already available in stores or included in the same release.

Track details: Step 2

You have the option to add lyrics to your track, but this is optional. Toggle on the option if you’d like to include them. Please note that your lyrics must follow the guidelines listed here.

You’ll then be asked to either upload your lyrics in a .TXT file or type or paste them into the text box below.

Track details: Step 3

  1. Add Audio File: If you haven’t already, you’ll have the option to add or replace the audio file for your track.

  2. Track Origin: Select either Original or Cover. Only select Cover if the track is a cover of another song. Read more about our cover guidelines here. In all other cases, select Original.

  3. Content ID (optional): Content ID allows you to earn money from user-uploaded content that uses your music. To use this feature, you must have exclusive rights to all parts of your music, including any samples or beats used. If your track doesn’t meet the criteria, the Content ID option won’t be available.

  4. TikTok Start Time (optional): A 60-second audio clip will be selected for use on TikTok. Specify where in the song you’d like the preview clip to start.

Track details: Step 4

On this final page, you can add all the credits for your track, including any additional primary artists, featured artists, performers, producers, and composers.

You must have at least one primary artist and one credited contributor per section. You can have up to four primary artists/remixers per track, but there is no limit to the number of featured artists or contributors in other roles.

For each role, you can indicate whether the contribution was generated by AI. AI credits are displayed in supported stores.

At this step, you can also set up royalty splits for the track. Please note that you won’t be able to change the splits again until the release is live. Read more about splits here.

Delivery Options

Here, you can choose which music stores and countries you want your release to be distributed to. Please note that some stores or countries may be unavailable for selection due to certain restrictions. For example, AI-generated content is automatically excluded from Qobuz, Meta, and YouTube Content ID.

  1. Music Stores: Choose the streaming platforms where you want your music to be available.

  2. Countries: Choose the countries where you want your music to be available. We recommend worldwide distribution unless you have a reason to limit your release to specific regions.

  3. Store Sync: Automatically deliver your release to stores we add to our platform in the future. This feature is included in our Artist Plus and Artist Pro plans, but Artist plan users can purchase it for a one-time fee per release.

  4. Release Timing: Choose whether you want your release to become available as soon as possible after review or on a scheduled release date. Once your release has been submitted for review, you won’t be able to change this setting.

  5. Audience Interaction: Choose whether you’d like a pre-save link to be created for your release.

Before clicking Submit Release, double-check that all the information is correct. Take a moment to review your artwork, audio, artist names, and release details to help ensure a smooth review process.

Happy with everything? Click Submit Release, and we’ll take it from there. Our team will review your music before sending it to stores. If anything comes up, we’ll get in touch.
