How to enable availability for your rates

Making your rooms bookable means managing both rates and availability. This article explains the different ways you can open and control availability in Amenitiz, and what each method is best for.

For a date to be bookable two things must be true:

  • The rate is open.

  • Availability (rooms to sell) is greater than 0.

You can do this for a date range or keep things open automatically with an Availability Window.

Scenario A: Keep availability open automatically (Availability window)

Use when: You want your calendar to stay open for a rolling period into the future, without daily updates.

Steps:

  1. Go to Booking Engine ▸ Pricing.

  2. A the rate plan you want to keep open.

  3. Click Availability Window ▸ ✎ icon.

  4. Choose how far ahead you want the rate open (for example, 6 or 12 months).

  5. Click Save.

Notes

  • Dates you closed manually in Planning ▸ Inventory stay closed until you reopen them.

  • You still need availability > 0 for those dates to be bookable.

  • If you sell on OTAs, make sure the rate plan is mapped and open on each channel.

Scenario B: Open or close a range of dates (bulk)

Use when: You want to update many days or weeks at once, like a season or campaign.

Steps:

  1. Go to Planning ▸ Bulk update.

  2. Select the room type(s) and rate plan(s) you want to change.

  3. Choose the date range.

  4. Choose the action 'Set availability'

  5. Enter the availability number you want:

    1. Set 0 to close those dates.

    2. Set 1+ to open with that many rooms available.

  6. Click Apply to confirm.

  7. Back in the Inventory calendar, review the affected range to confirm it now shows as open (green) or closed (red).

Scenario C: Open availability for a single date

Use when: You only need to open one day (or a very small number of days).

Steps:

  1. Open the rate for that date in Planning ▸ Bulk update (set it to Open).

  2. Go to Planning ▸ Inventory and enter availability > 0 for that date.

  3. Verify on your calendar that the date shows as open with stock.


FAQs

Does setting an Availability Window open my rate automatically?

Yes. When you save an Availability Window in Booking Engine ▸ Pricing ▸ [rate plan] ▸ Availability Window, the rate is opened for the dates inside that window.

What is the difference between opening a rate and setting availability?

Opening a rate controls whether a rate plan can be sold on a date. Availability is the number of rooms you sell. A date is bookable only when the rate is open and availability is greater than 0.

How do I enable availability for a single date?

Open the rate with Planning ▸ Bulk update, then set room stock for that date in Planning ▸ Inventory.

Will the Availability Window reopen dates I closed manually?

No. Manual closures made in Planning ▸ Inventory remain closed until you reopen them.

Do I need to open derived rate plans separately?

Yes. Opening or closing is not applied automatically to all derived plans. Select every plan you want to change in Planning ▸ Bulk update.
