Welcome to Ads Defender! This guide will walk you through the onboarding process and help you get set up smoothly. Whether you are just getting started or preparing to connect your first ad account, this guide will ensure that your initial experience with Ads Defender is seamless.

The Onboarding Process – What to Expect

Once the contract is signed and a start date is defined, Ads Defender will initiate the onboarding process. This includes:

  1. Onboarding Email

    • Before the contract start date, you will receive an onboarding email from Ads Defender.

    • This email will include links to the Help Center and this Getting Started Guide for easy reference.

  2. Invitation Email (Workspace Access)

    • Simultaneously, you will receive an invitation email from Ads Defender’s system.

    • This email contains a link to accept the invitation and gain access to your pre-configured workspace. This link is valid for 72 hours.

Step 1: Accept the Invitation and Create Your Account

  • Click the invitation link from the email.

  • You will be directed to Ads Defender’s login page to set up your user account.

  • Enter your email address and create a password.

    • Important: Your login email does not need to match the email that will later be used to connect ad accounts (e.g., Google Ads).

  • Choose a strong, secure password.

  • After completing this step, you will be redirected to your newly created workspace.

Step 2: Entering Your Workspace

Upon logging in, you will land in your prepared workspace. At this stage, the workspace will appear empty because no ad accounts have been connected yet.

Your next step is to add ad accounts to start tracking and protecting them.

Step 3: Connecting the first ad account

  1. Click “Add Accounts” on the Workspace Management.

  2. You will be prompted to choose a platform to connect:

    • Google Ads

    • Microsoft Ads

    • Meta Ads

  3. Recommendation: Start with an active Google Ads account if possible.

    • Google Ads accounts offer the most comprehensive integration and allow for advanced protection features.

    • Some steps of the configuration will have to be done only once and additionally connected accounts will automatically inherit some settings.

  4. Select the Publisher (e.g., Google Ads) and proceed to the connection process.

Step 4: Connecting to Google Ads

Once Google Ads is selected:

  1. Choose the Google User to Connect With

    • A window will appear prompting you to log in with a Google account.

    • This account will be the connection alias for Ads Defender. Any changes made by Ads Defender (such as IP blocks) will show up in Google Ads under this alias in the Change History.

    • Optional: Some organizations create a dedicated Google user (e.g., adsdefender@company.com) to manage Ads Defender connections for better tracking.

  2. Grant Permissions

    • In the next window, you must grant Ads Defender permissions to access and manage the selected ad account.

  3. Verify Permissions

    • Ensure that the Google user account you select has sufficient permissions (Admin or Manager access). This is essential to allow Ads Defender to make the necessary changes.

Step 5: Account Connection Process

  • After permission is granted, Ads Defender will begin pulling data from the connected ad account.

  • A loading icon will appear during this process.

  • Ads Defender will also generate a unique tracking ID for the account. This ID will later be used to create tracking snippets for more advanced setups.

  • In case assigning an ID won't work

What Happens After Connection?

  • Once the connection is complete, the ad account will appear in your Ads Defender dashboard.

  • Initially, the dashboard will appear empty, as no traffic data will have been collected yet.

  • As Ads Defender starts to analyze traffic and ad interactions, data will populate the dashboard over time.
