Getting started:

We advise that you start by initially planning how you would like to build your form and the journey your responders will take, depending on their answers.

Once you are happy with your form or survey plan, you can bring it to life in Forms for Confluence.

To begin, you want to create a new form by heading to the Forms for Confluence homepage (Apps dropdown > Forms for Confluence), then select "Create a new form."

Fill out the form Config information and press "Continue."

You can then begin adding questions to your new form.

Note: We recommend adding all your questions to your form before adding conditions, as this will reduce confusion and the chances of making mistakes.

You're now ready to dynamically add rules to some questions to display fields based on your respondents' answers.

You can start by clicking on the Conditional Fields Icon.

In the right-hand corner of the builder.

The Conditional fields module pops up, and click on the "Add condition" button.

To start adding a rule to a field, click on the “Field” dropdown and select the field/question you would like to assign your first rule to.

In this case, we will select “Have you tried Product X?".

Then select the "Field Value" (this is the answer the respondent selects to trigger a conditional field action) We will select the answer "YES" here.

Next, we want to add the action of the conditional question; you can select "Show" or "Hide."

Here, we will select "Show" as we want our conditional question to show to the user based on their answer.

Then, we must select "target" and find the field/question you want to display from the dropdown.

Here, we select the "What stood out most about Product X?" question.

And there we go; that's our first conditional question created in Forms for Confluence.

Have a go yourself at creating a form with conditional fields; with this new feature, the forms and experiences you can create are endless. And keep an eye out for future articles on conditional fields coming soon.

Happy form building
