Forge Templates FAQs

Some common questions following the update adding Forge templates.

Written by Sandy Fargus
Updated over a month ago

As part of our move to Atlassian Forge, we have recently added new versions of all our existing template. This means that there are currently two available versions of all our Templates. Once the transition to Forge is complete the legacy templates will be fully removed.

Pages created using the legacy templates will not be affected when the old templates are removed.

For the best user experience we recommend using the new versions of the templates.

We understand that this change may create a lot of questions. Below are some answers to the most common questions. If you still have concerns please reach out to our support team.

FAQs

User Questions

When I look for the new templates I can only find the legacy ones. How do I find the new templates?

This can happen when you filter by Marketplace. The easiest way to find the new templates is to search for Mosaic in the templates search box.

How will I know which templates to use?

We've made it easy to choose the newer templates. The new templates should appear at the top of the template list.

The legacy templates have been renamed to [LEGACY DO NOT USE] - Template Name

When the old template are removed will this affect pages I made using them?

No. Once you make a page with a template it is not longer connected to the template. When the legacy templates are removed, it will have no impact on any pages you made.

Admin Questions

Can I stop my users from accessing the old templates?

You can use Atlassian's template management page to remove selected templates. This can be done at both Space and Global levels.

Use the toggles in the Blueprint section to deactivate the legacy versions of the templates.

Will I lose the custom edits I made to Mosaic templates?

No.

The newly added templates are created using your current versions of the Mosaic templates. Any changes you have made to the original templates will be preserved.

If you make edits to a legacy template after the new templates have been added then the edits will not appear in the new templates.

I just made an edit to a new template but I can't revert to the original. Where's the revert changes button?

Due to the way Forge works, Atlassian have removed the option to revert a template back to it's original state. If you have a strong need for this ability please let us know.
