When moving home, you want your address updates to go through as smoothly as possible. If you’ve logged into your SlothMove dashboard and noticed that your update is marked as ‘Waiting’, you might be wondering why.
Don’t worry—this doesn’t mean there’s a problem! There are a few reasons why an update may still be pending, from scheduled processing times to missing details. In this article, we’ll break down what ‘Waiting’ means, why it happens, and what you can do to speed things up.
1️⃣ We Send Updates in Line with Your Move Date
Some updates are time-sensitive, so we schedule them to go out at the right time to ensure a smooth transition:
📅 Energy suppliers – Usually notified on your move-out date to ensure your final bill is accurate.
📅 HMRC – Updates can be sent 4+ weeks in advance to keep your tax records up to date.
📅 DVLA (Driving Licence & V5C) – Held until your move-in date so your new documents arrive at the correct address.
If your move date hasn’t arrived yet, your update may still be pending until it’s the right time to process it.
2️⃣ There’s a Problem Updating Your Address
Some organisations require your details to match exactly with their records. If there’s a mismatch, we may need to confirm your details before we can process your update.
For example, with DVLA updates:
✅ Your title (Mr/Mrs/Ms) must match exactly.
✅ If you have a middle name on your current licence, we must include it in your update.

3️⃣ We’re Waiting for You to Sign Your LoA
For most updates, you'll need to sign a Letter of Authority (LoA). This adds an extra layer of security by verifying your email address, capturing your IP address, and including a digital copy of your signature.
📝 If your update is on hold, check your email inbox for a message from us with a link to sign your LoA. Try searching LoA or letter of authority.
Once you've signed it, we’ll process your update as soon as possible!
4️⃣ Updates Are Sent Overnight
We process and send updates in the early hours of the morning. If you’ve:
✅ Completed all the required steps (e.g., signed your LoA, submitted supplier portal details)
✅ Still see a ‘Waiting’ status
🔄 Check back the following morning—your update may have been processed overnight!
