To ensure that End-Point Assessment (EPA) exams are delivered securely and consistently, specific systems and software must be installed and used during the assessment.
SecureClient Software Requirement
All devices used to sit EPA exams must have the SecureClient software installed
This software is required for access to the Surpass assessment platform, where online exams are delivered
The SecureClient ensures that:
The exam environment is secure and controlled
Access to unauthorised applications or resources is restricted
The integrity of the assessment is maintained throughout
Installation and Setup
The SecureClient must be installed and tested in advance of the exam date
Providers and employers should ensure:
Devices meet the required technical specifications
Installation is completed successfully
Any necessary troubleshooting is carried out prior to the assessment
Full guidance on installation can be found here:

Important Considerations
Exams cannot proceed without SecureClient being installed and functioning correctly
Failure to prepare devices in advance may result in:
Delays on the day of assessment
The need to reschedule the exam
Providers should work with employers and learners to:
Confirm all systems are ready
Conduct checks ahead of time
